Know a few employers using the furlough scheme in a similar manner- must be a bit frustrating for your OH.

Ha thought you’d say something like that so long as it works for you and no regrets.
The OH would rather be busy doing something than sat around doing nothing. He isn't really bothered if he is at work doing something or at home doing something, just so long as he is busy.

Him being on furlough doesn't really matter to us. We can comfortably manage with 80% of his wages coming in but some of the lads he works with are finding it a bit close to the bone. We have told his boss that he is happy to stay on furlough and let the other lads who need the money more work full time, but his boss wants to spread the work out between them all rather than do that which is his choice I suppose. It is his business.

We have both been offered the chance to go self employed in our lines of work but have both declined. We know that we could earn a bit more doing so but then we would have to stand to our own sick pay, holiday pay, pensions contributions etc. We know people who are self employed or who run their own businesses and more often than not they are happy and singing the praises of doing so. This last 12 months though a lot of them have struggled and the stress is showing. We have none of those worries and we are happy to keep it that way.

Haha also knew you wouldn’t be bothered about valentine’s lol. Full English looks on point as always mate.

Absolutely love the fact you know what you’re doing re debts/ motorhome 100%. If you !!!!!! off this rubbish about getting out of work and slowing down asap you’d go far mate. Seriously, I reckon you’d do well in business - plenty of work out there but you’ve probably got your mind made up. 😉
I'm quite happy working for someone else and letting them deal with all the stress :)
Totally agree with this RS.  More to life than work.

It does feel good to finally get to below £20k. A little moral boost for a Monday morning :D
  • Hi, through no fault of my own my mortgage company did not take the D/D payment when they should have. They had plenty of time, the correct bank details and there were sufficient funds in the account. They reported me to the credit score companies for a missed payment and this went on my credit score. Can I complain and expect compensation for the black mark against me on my credit score and how much compensation should I expect? Thank you.

Sorry I don't know. You might be better off posting this in the credit files section of the forum and I'm sure someone over there can answer your question for you.

Sub £20k is brilliant news mate.

I suspected you’d feel like that re work - tbh if you can do everything you want and happy with your income, fair play. Can’t say I get the mindset lol but not my life!

It does feel good to get below the £20k mark.

I cut up card 2 as well this morning as an extra moral booster.

Card 3 and that furniture loan are the next on the hit list. Going to make a £250 overpayment on the furniture loan this week and then plan to pay that account off completely next month. Then all spare funds are going to be thrown at Card 3. I would like to get that one paid off before we buy a van if at all possible. But we shall see that might not happen in time.

We have aimed to generate a happy work life balance. We both work Monday to Friday and appreciate our time off come the weekends and holidays. Yes we could earn more but we only have a finite amount of time to spend that extra money. For us extra time is worth more than extra money provided we have enough money to do what we want to do comfortably. With these credit cards and loan repayments gone we will have more than enough money for us to live a very comfortable existence. We won't need anymore money.
