Just to confirm I made around 6 transactions using Apple and 2 online credit card with my Metro debit card. Will that qualify for the 10 transactions?

It should qualify towards the ten transactions required.  6 plus 2 is 8

We won't know for sure what works until someone gets the £50 bonus.

Have we reached a concensus on whether Metro mean 10 debit card transactions per month for the first 2 months, or 10 debits over the whole period of 2 months?

I read it as 10 debits over the 2 months. They may mean otherwise, but that's what their  (?mis)use of English states.

And is a "month" determined by the anniversary of account opening, or is it a "calendar" month?

""For you both to be eligible for £50, your friend needs to open a new Personal Current or Private Banking Account with us, switch within 30 days, deposit at least £500 in each of the first two months, and make 10 debit card purchases in that time.""
  • I read as in the first two months of it being switched to.

Yes . Thanks. A bit clearer that it's 10 debits over the two months, but still unclear on the definition of a month.

2.6 You’ll need to pay in a minimum of £500 within the first month and a further £500 in the second month.
2.7 You’ll need to make a minimum of 10 debit card purchases (eg purchases in shops, online or mail order) within the first two months of opening your account.

Incidentally I made "proper purchases" and also paid my credit card (elsewhere) using the Metro debit card, and both types of transaction show  on the statement as "card purchase"  ( although of course one may not want to risk it and so ensure there's 10 "proper purchases")

I'm going to add a third £500 hokey cokey payment to ensure that I still qualify whether they had a calender month or opening date anniversary month in mind. Belt and braces!

I hope they don't mean calendar month as my account was opened on 30 August with £100 and further deposits were not made until September.

I don't think anyone could yet have fulfilled the offer T&Cs.

I believe that I fulfilled the offer T&Cs on the 15th September.

This is assuming that the funding requirements were £500 paid in per calendar month (for the first 2 months) and making 10 debit card payments in total.

There was also a need to register for online and mobile banking. I may of course have overlooked something else - if so, I'd welcome a nudge. :)

No incentive received here yet, though I believe Metro said something like "within a couple of weeks" after meeting the requirements.
