Metro Bank refer a friend offer

MSE, why has the Metro refer-a-friend thread been closed?
Forumites have, AFAICS, complied fully with the MSE referral rules, and not posted any referral codes outside the official Referrers' forum.
What is the problem, do you not want your forumites to post such offers? Do you not want forumites to be able to to discuss switching offers from banks? If so, please update your rules so we all know where we stand. Thanks.

You would be better emailing the team.

I think a board volunteer closed it due to “confusion” as they wrote, though I’m not sure what the confusion was. I don’t think it had the input of MSE itself. But yes, we need a thread to discuss the switching offer, and I’m sure most people on here know that there is a specific thread on the Referral page where people can pick up a referral code if they need one.0

something i was going to add to that thread as someone had asked.
what i found was when completing the switching form, if i used the 1st available date i got an error message, but changing that to the following day completed the process successfully. maybe because my application was later in the day?0 -
I had the same issue when trying to apply for the switch during the morning. I was also having trouble opening the switching terms PDF - the system wanted me to login to some kind of Microsoft Azure server with Metro Bank PLC credentials. Metro Bank's IT systems have never impressed me and I just see these problems as part of what to expect from it.pfpf said:something i was going to add to that thread as someone had asked.

Does not need to be opened, just click it, is switch completion date given that determines whether switching form submits

And...make sure your photo id is clear and personal id only contains your face. I was not accepted, and was advised that this is probably the likely reason the application was rejected, given I have not had problems previously.0

No, but eventually the system* decided that I had opened the document and it would allow me to proceed as despite clicking on the link I had been receiving an error message saying that I hadn't read the document.Over62 said:

It's difficult to know which action mattered most but I then opened the link on the switch form by right-clicking on the link and telling it to open in another tab and and changing the switch date to one day later than the indicated earliest it then finally worked.0 -
Even after clicking the link, when I was using Chrome it was giving me an error message saying that I hadn't read the document and the switch couldn't proceed unless I did.bristolleedsfan said:Over62 said:

Anyway, whatever. Like I said, Metro Bank sucks so I'm not surprised in the slightest that we're seeing these silly problems.0 -
The "confusion" was that thread got moved to referrals , so we had two threads with the title "metro Bank referral" .Herbalus said:I think a board volunteer closed it due to “confusion” as they wrote, though I’m not sure what the confusion was. I've no idea why it was moved or who did it which is why I couldn't move it back .
