GoodLuckGemma said:My worry is that he clearly doesn't respect me enough to add my name to our Title Deed as his wife. He is rude and disrespectful to me in our marriage also. He says VERY NASTY things about my mother & father who have only been kind and loving towards HIM.
I feel TRAPPED like I have no rights and have to stay here regardless of how unhappy this makes me !!! Or how ignorant and rude my husband actually is
Why do you put up with him being rude?
If you were to divorce, you would be entitled to at least 50% of the marital assets - would you be happier if you separated?
This isn't really about his will - it sounds like the final straw in an unhappy relationship.
In the meantime, if the house is registered with the Land Registry, register a matrimonial interest in it.6 -
When things were better between you in the early days, did you discuss monetary affairs then? Has this lack off communication regarding money got worse since your relationship has got worse?Old enough to know better...........0

Lady Harris - thank you very much for your kind & helpful reply !! May I ask you something ? If you were me - only 49 and so so unhappy today - would you divorce and live your life freely ??2

It is common to have the house left to the children, with a life interest to the spouse; good IHT planning and is recommended.
See a divorce lawyer, ask them what your entitlement would be if you were to divorce, separate, move to the nicer house and start over. You are a different person to when you got together, grown up and experienced life and want more than you are currently getting from it.
I was never on my ex's deeds, he was older than me too. Made it so much easier for me to walk away, start my life over and everything that goes with it. Could have had half of everything on divorce, aside from the small pension he had prior to us getting together; when I did the divorce I had nothing by choice, I wanted it dealt with quickly.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -

How many of you on here would seek a solicitor's advice in my situation ?3

Are there any good things about the relationship?
What effect is it having on your daughter to see her Dad being rude to you and you shouting at him?
Does he treat his daughter with respect?
Do you want to spend the next twenty years in this situation?2
