I haven’t complained yet MF- I’ve been collecting evidence in case I have to submit one to student finance, but I hadn’t considered complaining to uni. I’ve been trying to get them to sort this out for a month now- do you think 2 months would be fair before complaining?

Thanks SW, it has been such a pain!! It winds me up because if I ever get through to someone at uni or student finance they’re like “well don’t worry, of course it will get sorted!” And I’m like “but it isn’t sorted is it???”

Anyway, I have had a nice day today! Went to a roleplay cafe with mini riot, my best friend, and her new baby (£6). Mini was absolutely smitten with the baby! We came back to mine for some lunch and then left mini with riotdude while we pottered around the shops. Think she’s been getting a bit lonely at home now her husbands back at work, so we’ve been seeing a lot of each other, which is lovely, and I’m trying to look after her a bit and make sure she eats and has a rest!

Bought some food storage containers (£1.50) and some bits in Claire’s for mini’s stocking (£10)
  • 2 months is more than enough before the official complaint goes in. Shows you've tried to resolve it informally first.

    Your day sounds great!

  • I think you have been more than patient giving them 2 months!

I’ve never heard of a roleplay cafe ? Sounds intriguing 🤔

Thanks, I'll do that. I've managed to get an in-person appointment this afternoon with someone from the finance team, so fingers crossed something gets sorted then! I might just stage a sit-in in their office until they do it xD

Roleplay cafe is super cute! They have all these little roleplay areas for the kids- supermarket, fire station, vets, etc.- and then a cafe in the middle so you can chill out while they run around and play. The cafe is really cheap too, so it's a good couple of hours out.
  • Hope you took food, drinks and a blanket, just in case. They have to listen when you're there.

    Cafe does sound great!

Well done on getting an appointment. I do hope they can sort it, you will find it is happening to many other people too I am sure. I am new to this role play cafe idea, it sounds brilliant. I bet mini riot loved it. You have cheered me up just describing it.

  • Hope your appointment went well.

Role play cafe sounds fantastic I wish they had places like that when my DS was small (now a strapping 26 yo 😆)

  • Uni have managed to sort their end of the problem out! Finally! So they've now sent the info to student finance, who should process it by mid-December, hopefully.

I also passed the assessments and interviews for the job I was talking about, but I can't get a start date out of them either! So now I'm waiting to start TWO jobs. On the bright side, I've been earning about £50 a week between matched betting and surveys, so that's helping a bit. It's so hard to budget as riotdude is paid weekly and most of our bills come out at the start of the month, so I'm saving up anything we have spare each week and putting it in a separate account so that we can pay mini's nursery bill at the end of the month.

Saturday was my birthday and I had a lovely time :) We had a lazy morning at home and then a picnic lunch on the floor with some party games, which mini really enjoyed. Then we went round to my mum's for tea and to put up the Christmas tree. I got £120 in birthday money so I'm going to put half towards getting myself a few bits of clothes and half into the bills pot (an agreement struck with riotdude- I wanted to put it all in the pot and he wanted me to spend it all on myself)

Lazy day today as the weekend really wore me out and mini has been keep me awake all night coughing in my ear, poor thing.
  • That's wonderful news, fingers crossed you hear very soon.

Congratulations about the second role, one will eventually provide a start date and if you're still applying for others maybe the third one is the right one.

Belated birthday wishes 🍰, it sounds like a wonderful time all-round.

Hope you both feel better soon.
