Ahhhh student finance continue their !!!!!!! They’ve sent me another letter saying I now owe them £600 because they overpaid my childcare grant, which I haven’t even used yet because it’s locked in their daft online system! I wish they would make up their bloody minds about what I do or don’t owe!!!

ANYWAY, the money they paid me directly meant I could pay off the credit card in full. That means our only remaining debt is £1371 of interest free overdraft. We probably won’t be able to start paying it off until I get my first paycheck at the end of January, but in the meantime at least it won’t get any worse :)

I got my booster jab on Thursday and ended up feeling awful for all of Friday and Saturday, just really achey and fluey. Feeling better today so we went to soft play this morning (although I let riotdude do most of the running around!). My mum came round and brought us lunch and took mini out for a little walk. This afternoon we played in the (very muddy) garden and now mini is happily splashing in the bath, so she should be suitably worn out this evening! Riotdude is at work so I’ll probably watch the strictly results show and have a glass of wine.

Sweet potato katsu ready meal for tea tonight. I was vegetarian for 10 years before I had mini and I’m feeling the pull to go back, so I’ve pretty much stopped eating meat unless riotdude cooks it.

Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend!
  • Sounds like a very busy day! Hope student finance sort themselves out. I would be putting in a complaint after all the stress they have caused / are causing you.

Riotlady i am so sorry to hear about the stupid letter. Remember they have made a mistake and they will sort it out eventually. They are daft as brushes. I hope the tiredness and side effects stop soon, watch telly and chill ok. Hoping for a good week for you.

I’m just so sick of ringing people trying to sort things out! Not sure if I can make a complaint as the first problem was more unis fault.

Will definitely have a chill out tonight
  • Rang student finance today, I've officially given up as I can't take any more reassessments. I've agreed to pay them back £10 a month for the overpayment for now so shouldn't affect finances too badly.

On the bright side, we got our warm homes discount approved so we have an extra £140 in credit with our energy suppliers- who we're already in credit with anyway, as we very luckily sorted a new fix not long before the price hikes. That should easily see us through winter and I'll withdraw any remaining excess in March/April time

I had planned a semi productive day of yoga and clearing out mini's toys ahead of Christmas, but I slept really badly and I'm feeling a bit gloomy and tired :(

Well despite being in a bit of a huff with life on Monday, I’ve had a reasonably productive week. I did my online yoga class and I’ve cleared out and organised all of mini’s toys and clothes ahead of Christmas.

Yesterday I got to babysit my friend’s new baby while she went out for an appointment. It was lovely! I am getting quite broody at the minute but things were so tight when we had mini (who was a bit of a surprise), I really want to be settled and have our own house before we think about no.2. I could probably do with being a couple of stone lighter too!

Today I have quite a few errands to run at the shops- parcels to post and pick up, stuff to drop at the charity shop, last couple of Christmas presents to pick up. That’s quite a big task for me at the moment so Im going to try and get it done this morning and then I can lie on the sofa this afternoon.
  • I’m glad you are feeling a bit brighter. Do you have to do all that this morning and “crash & burn” this afternoon? Could the charity shop stuff wait? Could riotdude pick up the last few pressies at the weekend ? Well done on the clearing and organising

Hope all your jobs were done and you are resting.

  • Hope you haven't overdone it and are casually resting instead of forced rest.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • Thanks everyone :) I ended up arranging for my parcels to be collected, to save me carrying them around and waiting in the post office queue. £1.20 well spent!

I’ve been feeling quite energetic today but I’ve been trying not too get too carried away with it as the next couple of weeks are so busy! Cleaned the bathroom, went for a short walk and sorted stuff for Freecycle and Ebay. I’ve made £34 in the past couple of weeks so not too shabby.

Tomorrow we’re off on the Elf train at the locomotive museum to see Santa! And then it’s my sister’s 21st birthday in the evening. Sunday I’m hoping we can just pootle around the house and chill before the madness of Christmas week.
