  • We have just started on this journey. Applied through a broker on 01/10/2020 and got agreement in principal on 5th, plus mortgage offer on 8th when we went to see the broker who said they were taking 5-6 weeks to process at the moment.
You got your mortgage offer in 8 days??
  • knightstyle probably meant the illustration or declaration? If it's an actual offer I'm well jealous! Hoping to hear some news tomorrow/Tuesday. Do they always request additional information?
22/09 - application submitted with Leeds BS, long story short, on the 9/11 we've been told that Leeds is reducing the amount they're willing to lend by nearly £20k (turns out our broker FORGOT to declare our child on the application)
10/11 - found another mortgage advisor
11/11 - AIP with Santander (single applicant, shared ownership, 85LTV)
    12/11 - all documents sent
13/11 - application with Santander submitted and passed to underwriting. Valuation booked for 23/11
19/11 - mortgage agreed, subject to a satisfactory valuation
    23/11 - mortgage offer issued
    19/12 - completed

They mean they joined the broker, did a DIP and then made application 😂
    newbies make mistakes
  • I'm just wondering if it's a standard thing that all brokers say 'it takes 5-6 weeks'. Our broker said the same thing but tomorrow will be 3 weeks for us and it's not even been assessed yet 😂

  • called them to chase today as we submitted an email confirmation that they asked for on friday, along with a solicitor letter confirming our completion day was approaching. The woman on the phone gave the standard generic response of it being 15 working days before we would hear again. Our broker said today that he has it confirmed in an email from Leeds that a solicitor letter will be enough to escalate a case so he is just waiting for an update now from the leeds BDM
