That is very helpful thanks. Do you have a link pointing to this piece of information in their official website/PDFs by any chance? Or is it your personal experience?SpanishBlue said:JohnZoidberg said:I applied for a new reward account on 28th August, will I incur the £3 fee for not paying in £1500 in august? I haven't received my internet banking activation code/debit card/pin code yet, I was planning to start setting up standing orders to fund the account to avoid the fee starting from September, once I got full access to the account. Thanks, I would be grateful if anyone had the answer.
No you won't be charged it. They only start charging it after your account has been open for a full calendar month. It's on their document "Bank account Guide"

Morning
I want to try and take advantage of this offer - but I’m not sure the application is working right. I have a Halifax CC so have existing online banking, i go to apply for a new account, select reward account and follow through but there is no mention of asking for switch details before clicking complete, which I would expect during the application - so I cancelled it. Should it ask about switching details of your old account during the application or do you fill in a form after to switch and get the £100?
also just to point out the end date has changed to the 8th September now
thanks for any help1 -
I downgraded it to a normal current account then applied to switch it to the new RBS to take advantage of the new offer therePRAISETHESUN said:
Easiest way to close it is to just switch it into an existing account that you hold - if this is your one and only account then this obviously won't be an option but their website seems to suggest you can do it by mail if you don't fancy a branch visit?kimwp said:Can you close the account online or over the phone? It seems to imply that I need to go into a branch?

The switch application is separate. You request the switch once you have the sort code and account number for your new Reward account.steveh2001 said:

Can the £1500 you have to pay in be a transfer from another Halifax account?0

Looks like the earliest available switching date is the 15th sept, not sure if requesting the switch now counts as ‘starting’ before the 8th to get the £100 but we’ll see0

The terms and conditions of the offer make no reference to "‘starting’ before the 8th". Edit: It looks like they have amended the T&Cs to close the offer earlier - was previously the 14th. Since you can open a new account on the 8th and qualify, the switch must be considered to have started on the day of submission.steveh2001 said:Looks like the earliest available switching date is the 15th sept, not sure if requesting the switch now counts as ‘starting’ before the 8th to get the £100 but we’ll see
