If someone who has more than one sole Reward account, closed one and then applied for a new account, would they be eligible for the switch offer? I'm not sure if a new sole account would be opened though, as you are only officially allowed one, however I was told by their helpline you are allowed 3 Reward accounts.  Has anyone done this?
    Thanks

Even if anyone had done this doesn't mean to say you'll get away with it, too.
If the CS has said you can have 3 then you're safe, aren't you? Or have you got more than 3? If so you're risking £20, or more, pm by trying.

Got the £100 the day before the switch completed. Now I'm trying to downgrade account to avoid monthly charge. When I go to change account, I get this:

This happened yesterday, and again today. Anyone else having this problem?
Often resolved by clearing cache, cookies etc.. Worked for me with Halifax when I was getting these messages.

Tried that, also tried 3 different browsers, nothing works.

Same here. I get that message quite regularly. Sometimes I have to re logon again, sometimes I don't.

keeping £5000 in and getting £5 pcm (£60 pa) =1.2%  interest isn't it? So a tad above NS&I on top of initial £100 switch
If you are a basic rate taxpayer with less than £1000 in savings interest, it is equivalent to a savings account paying 1.2%. But if you opt for the debit card option, then you can earn £60 pa AND 1.15% on £5000, which is almost double that 1.2%.

May be a stupid question but if I registered the Halifax debit card at my nsandi income bond a/c to deposit £500 pcm there would that satisfy the Halifax criteria?

It's a question that's been asked and answered several times already. Yes, those who have spent on their debit card on an NS&I savings account have received the reward.

We used our debit cards to top up Hargreaves Lansdown SIPP and ISAs and that worked fine, and OH also used her debit card to pay off monthly credit card, and that too counted - best of both worlds, earn points spending on credit card, then pay off using debit card to get further bonus. I'm getting quite good at this MSE stuff
You can also see in the rewards tracker if the transaction has counted towards your £500 monthly total. It takes a day or two for the tracker to update but you won't have to wait until the end of the month to see if a transaction has been counted.

I made the mistake of choosing the £5 for 5k balance reward. I wish I had chosen the £500 spend. Unfortunately it cannot be changed.

I will be downgrading the account instead to avoid the paying in conditions.

Why not close/downgrade the account, and then open a new Reward a/c, choosing the £500 spend on a debit card option?
