I've just found my tracker. I'm not going to get my award this month because my £5000 wasn't in by 10 August. I didn't realise that it needed to be in by then. Oh well, I'm not going to pull it out and put it in again before 10 September.

For the option you have chosen, you need to keep £5,000 in your account EVERY DAY of the month to get the reward.
If you did wait till 10th September, you would not get your reward for the next month either.
Thanks, i shall leave it in now for the next 12 months

  • I opened a Monzo a/c, received my Debit Card 3 days later; immediately opened and switched my Monzo a/c to a Halifax Rewards a/c and received my £100 within 7 days. Easy.

    Thank you for everyone.

Will you be keeping your Halifax account? If not, you could try for the Metro £50 offer next. More long-winded than Halifax but £50 is not to be sniffed at.

keeping £5000 in and getting £5 pcm (£60 pa) =1.2%  interest isn't it? So a tad above NS&I on top of initial £100 switch

If you are a basic rate taxpayer with less than £1000 in savings interest, it is equivalent to a savings account paying 1.2%. But if you opt for the debit card option, then you can earn £60 pa AND 1.15% on £5000, which is almost double that 1.2%.

has any one else had a text advising not paid as not qualified.  I have had a text from them today saying that my switch completed (it actually completed on Tuesday) but i do not qualify for the £100 as i did not open a reward or ultimate reward account.

However, 1. i did apply for a reward account and 2. both the card and the online banking has it titled as a Reward Current account?  Trying to get through to them via phone but have been in queue for last 20 minutes? wondering if anyone else has had the same?
Was it a brand new account and not just an upgrade of an account opened before 4th August?
yeah it was a brand new account opened with them online on 7 August and applied for switch at the same time. have just finished speaking to the switch team and they cannot see why not paid either as she can see it does show as a reward account.  she has advised he will have to raise as a complaint as her and colleague cannot see what is going on or why, so will have to wait and see what happens i guess?
well Halifax came back to me on the matter, the reward should've been paid as i did meet the criteria and the text was sent in error.  they have now paid the £100 switch reward so at least that is all sorted.

  • Hi all,
To avoid the monthly charge I am planning to pay in the £1500 required to avoid it.  What I can't work out is whether that needs to be a single deposit of £1500+, or whether I could make a number of deposits over the course of a month and still avoid the charge, i.e. three deposits of £500 each?

    Thanks!

multiple deposits, adding up to at least £1,500 in a calendar month, will be fine

Got the £100 the day before the switch completed. Now I'm trying to downgrade account to avoid monthly charge. When I go to change account, I get this:

This happened yesterday, and again today. Anyone else having this problem?

I get these sort of messages frequently at Halifax. Sometimes they even log me out after that message. Usually it works o.k. on second try. If the issue persists for you, why not just switch the account out? Have a look at the Metro offer. Or just switch it into an existing account w/o a switch offer.
