Wouldnt let me enter a phone No on application. Somehow I managed to open/apply for a new Reard a/c, THEN switched a Nat West a/c TO the Reward, Will I get the £100, or will they deem it I have an EXISTIN Reward a/c ? Cannot see any facility to message them to close the a/c (once/if I get the £100

? You can't start a switch until the new account is open - otherwise there's nothing to switch to. So you have to open the new account first, by definition.
  • I did an application as an existing customer, selected to open new account and then gave details of the account I wanted to switch.  However, in the application it asked me for the sort code and account number of the new halifax account which was just opened, then the details for the old account I want to switch.  I thought it was  bit odd it prompting me for details of the account I had literally opened ten seconds before.

Second application (helping wife) selected new customer, new reward account and to switch and was not prompted to enter halifax account details only the old account to be switched.

    We shall wait and see....

Is there something to be said for not bothering about the monthly deposit nor the DDs, suffering the penalty and getting the £100?  I've never had a Halifax CA, don't need one. My struggle would be finding an account to switch!
PS: memory losing its efficiency - switched a Halifax Reward Account to Santander last year, having switched a Natwest account to Halifax in November 2018 - which I assume excludes me.

To those who already have more than one (possibly many) Reward accounts, how are you approaching this one, please?
I could try to open another, but the terms do say only one sole Reward account - and the application may even trigger their system or a human into seeing the many accounts I hold and closing them!

    Question for my family.
If someone has Ultermate reward can you still open standard reward account and switch?
Is it possible to switch from Lloyd's to Halifax?
    Thanks

I dont think anyone is opening more than one to their name. But if you have a partner, you can do theirs.

I think Kieran is suggesting that some people already have multiple Reward accounts in their name. If that is the case and those people are already receiving £5 each month on all these accounts, I would play the long game and not bother with trying to get the £100 incentive.

I’m considering opening an Ultimate account (don’t currently have any of these) and paying one month’s fee. Doesn’t seem to be an option to close the account online after the incentive is received though...
