Can I open another reward account and do the switch?
I am sure the last switch payment I had was before 2018.
Also once switching payment is received and I decide to close account is it possible or is it fixed for 12 months?
Thanks3 -

So if I downgrade my Reward account to a Current account and then apply for a New Reward account. I should qualify for the switching offer.
It just mentions about switching, does bit have to be any active direct debits on the account.

It seems they don't do a credit check for Ultimate Reward account applications for existing customers4

I think someone on another thread mentioned a way of spending £500 (was it automatically, by paying into some savings account or similar) on the debit card to get the extra £5pm from the Halifax. Can anyone jog my memory on this as I can't seem to find the thread? TIA.0

i just signed up by switching. My wife has a dormant account with First Direct but its still in her maiden name, would that present issues when trying to switch that account to Halifax?0

@Bobblehat - Did some searching for you and found this one - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/77388427/#Comment_77388427
That post does not say how or where they posted their savings, only that it worked for them.
Having deposited into my newly-opened NS&I Direct Saver on Sunday, I can confirm that the debit card transaction to NS&I was visible in my account the same day (unlike FPs).
So, as long as you have a saving account that allows debit card deposits, you should be fine (I hope).
Just make sure it is a manual, debit card, transaction and not an automatic SO, as they would not qualify for the reward, imo.
Good luck!4 -
Thanks Herbalus. I am maybe getting confused (and maybe confusing others)! I take it that an SO or Faster Payment out of the Halifax account is not the same as "Spending on the Debit Card"?
I thought I saw part of a thread in another topic on "Budgeting and Banking" that specifically mentioned a way of "spending on the Debit Card" that was valid for the £5pm bonus. I don't normally spend £500pm on any Debit Card, but do a fair amount of shuffling money from one bank to another each month to meet conditions for various bonuses, feeding RS's etc.
Ideally, I am looking for a way to spend the £500 via the debit Card into savings and if there were a way to do it automatically (i.e. without manual intervention) then that would be a bonus.0 -
I tried to open a Monzo account this morning to take advantage of this offer, but seems stuck on verifying your account information so might have to use my Starling account.0
