Thanks Herbalus. I am maybe getting confused (and maybe confusing others)! I take it that an SO or Faster Payment out of the Halifax account is not the same as "Spending on the Debit Card"?

    ....

Ideally, I am looking for a way to spend the £500 via the debit Card into savings and if there were a way to do it automatically (i.e. without manual intervention) then that would be a bonus.
Correct, a standing order or faster payment (where you go onto your own internet banking and instruct the payment to be sent by inputting the recipient bank account details) is not a debit card payment. For a debit card payment, you need to use your debit card funnily enough, so you need to put the card number into the recipient website if doing it online.

the only automatic way I can think for debit card spend is via a recurring payment e.g. my Apple Music subscription goes straight onto a debit/credit card linked to an Apple ID and happens every month. But you’d be hard pressed to get £500 of those every month and it is genuine spending with a third party as opposed to depositing into a savings account.

I already have a Reward account.
Can I open another reward account and do the switch?
I am sure the last switch payment I had was before 2018.
Also once switching payment is received and I decide to close account is it possible or is it fixed for 12 months?
    Thanks
You are allowed one sole and one joint Reward account. Plus one sole and one joint Ultimate Reward. You can close any of them any time you like.
    Okay Thabks.
So if I downgrade my Reward account to a Current account and then apply for a New Reward account.  I should qualify for the switching offer.
It just mentions about switching,  does bit have to be any active direct debits on the account.

You can have up to 3 Current accounts plus 1 sole and 1 joint Reward Current accounts. Are there any repercussions to downgrading a sole Reward Current account to a sole Current account. I presume it can be done quickly online. How long will it be before you can open a new Reward Current account? Once the new Reward Current account is open you will have to wait until your new debit card arrives before you can make a £500 deposit and hopefully qualify for August`s £5 reward to be paid in Sepetmber. Is it best to wait until 12th August and receive £5 reward for July before downgrading? This will leave just enough time to get the August reward on the new account?

Just completed the application hit submit and now have a blank screen with blue Halifax header and footer and PCA showing in the IE page tab! So has it or hasn't it?

The Apple Music example shows me what the problem might be!

Thanks WOSOTT ..... I'll read back along that thread and see if it gives an example of the £500 spend.

Zanderman ...I was thinking along the same lines as you, £100 first. I also thought I was in the right place to ask at the right time, given that other readers of this thread may have been having similar thoughts as me about the £500!

Update: it hadn't, I hit refresh after a few minutes and another page came up to complete the process. Shall have to see what happens with my wife's but we'll use Chrome not IE for hers.
Further update: the Chrome application went through easily so must be the elderly IE...

Planned to bin my Nationwide account since the interest recently dropped and I've got my insurance benefits elsewhere... this is a nice one! And one of the few major banks I haven't received a bonus from yet haha.

I can see shared info above that it's legit, but nothing on the website yet. Is it worth waiting to be able to "click through" to apply with the £100 offer present, so to speak, or to just give it a go and kick off the account application now?

Not sure where you're looking but it is definitely on the Halifax website.
Not on the front page admittedly but clearly promoted if you click through to the Reward account page.
