The welcome bonus will run between 4 August and 15 September, and those who have received cash for switching to Halifax since April 2018 are ineligible. The money will be paid in full before the seven-day switchover takes place, Halifax say.4 Aug 2020
Halifax advert says get £100 in 7 working days. Some have got there money early but clearly not consistent so technically you will get your £100 today, later today!
I should get mine by late tomorrow as arranged switch on 5th +7 working days = Friday 14th. We aren’t entitled to get it earlier as long as they do it by 7 working days. Then again that is AFTER the switch happens so they are not adhering to there own t&c if they make us wait.

Fear is for some reason don’t qualify!
    And FOMO!

Just checked and payment just arrived.  Also you should get  yours by close of business tomorrow and the switch team finish about 5pm.
  • Can anyone, who has successfully switched to an Ultimate Reward AND then subsequently received the £100, tell me which type of Bank Accounts they have the option to downgrade to online please.

    TIA
Current Account (no rewards or interest etc, just a basic/everyday type account)  This is the one I went for.
Student Account (I didn't check the details as I assumed I would not be eligibile)

I had to phone Santander to switch into an existing account.  If I opened a new account online then the switch could be done online.

It just happens that Halifax accepts switching instructions online, while other banks I hold a current account I want to keep require a phonecall.
Which banks required a phonecall for switching? I can't recall a single one that did. Not even Santander, during the £50 Amazon voucher switch bonanza last year.
I had to phone Santander during the switching bonanza. First Direct require a call, as do HSBC (M&S do not but require a week's notice to start the switching process), and Co-op do also. No longer a TSB customer, but they would have been my other option as ISTR they accepted online switches, but don't want to create new donor accounts to be rid of old ones (unless there's an incentive on offer).
That's weird. I switched over a dozen accounts into Santander during their Amazon bonanza, all online, not a single phone call needed. It's eons since I switched to First Direct, and I can't remember whether I had to call, but if I had to, it wasn't an issue. I didn't qualify for the HSBC switch offer but I did for the Coop one and definitely did not need to call the Coop over it. I am not sure now whether I ever switched to TSB but I am sure I had lots of cashback from them for several new accounts which didn't even require a switch.

I am not sure why you would need to create new donor accounts to be rid of old ones - can you elaborate, please, @masonic
I no longer have current accounts with every bank, so to use some bank's switching service would require me to open a new account. Of the current accounts I do hold, the ones I mentioned do not offer an online switching facility - trust me, I looked for it and was directed to phone. Halifax do and I already hold an account, so that is the path of least resistance for me, and the path I chose. I was lucky in that respect because I originally envisaged switching out all three BoS accounts in parallel to different banks, which would have left me short for this offer.
In my view, it is inefficient to do such things by phone. I can type something much faster than I can spell it out, and I can read and check something much faster than someone can read it back to me, and loading a webpage is faster than reaching a call handler. And I can do it with loud music on in the background. But that's just me. I'm not keen on applying for new accounts by phone either, and won't if there is an online option available to me
Without going into detail, I reckon you are making this switching-for-a-bonus-cash-grab wayyyyyyyy too difficult for yourself.
Really? All I did was spotted this thread, then opened a new Reward account, then switched an existing BoS account to Halifax that I'd originally intended to switch to a different Halifax account slightly later this month. Incentive paid, switch due to complete tomorrow, one less account to deal with later. I haven't done any upgrading or downgrading, and I intend to keep my new Reward account for the monthly fiver. But I'm always happy to learn... what could I have done to make things easier on myself?
I really didn't think my decision to use Halifax to dispose of some old unwanted accounts would be so controversial.
I think there’s some comments directed at certain aspects of posts that are interpreted at being directed at other parts. I think it was the “opening new donors to switch old donors in” part which seemed odd but you’re coming at it from the point of your current banks require telephone to switch (which I would also avoid) but i agree it makes no sense to open say a TSB donor just in order to switch all your other donors in (on the basis TSB can do online switching).
The only question I have, and you may not know the answer, is whether you can switch 2 accounts into a single account concurrently? Your method appears sequential - is there a reason for switching them into Halifax one at a time? It just means I’m waiting longer to hear whether you get more than one incentive!  B)
Yes, I gave the example of opening new donors to switch old donors in as an example of something I didn't want to do, and to justify why I was restricting myself to switching into accounts I currently held.
My understanding is that CASS can only support one switching request to a destination current account at a time. That was certainly true of Santander during the switching bonanza last year, but I have not tested with other providers. But fear not, I'll be initiating my next switch very shortly.

Same options for me but I am not sure the downgrade worked as there was a message that 'something went wrong', and the account still shows as an Ultimate Reward. I had an email saying the 'Welcome to your new Halifax Current Account". All very confusing. I am now going to switch the account out so I can be sure I won't get charged (at least not the full £17).

UPDATE: the account name has now changed to Current Account. It seems you have to log out and in again to see the change.

I think it might depend on the bank. I have just initiated the switch of 2 accounts into the same Natwest account. Their application form specifically provides for more than one switch.

applied 4 Aug, received switch bonus already, due to complete tomorrow.  has anyone been able to find the 'reward tracker' that supposedly shows you whether you are meeting the conditions for the rewards yet? is this app only?
It's on the left in online banking but on the right in the app.
    Check here for a screenshot

It's definitely on the right for me in online banking. I have just checked (under "My current account options")
I wonder why for some it's on the right and some on the left?  As a test, my wife logged in and it shows on the right, she logged out, I logged in (same PC/web browser) and mine is on the left.  I logged out and she logged in again and then her's was on the left too!

When I read the UR t&c welcome pdf  page 53 it said the £17 is charged monthly in arrears on the second working day of the month, so in September, but if the account is changed before then then no charge will be made at all (my interpretation check yourself!)
Also said term 5 If you want to cancel, that you have to cancel the account in writing but maybe that’s just one option. I’m just wary that they are setting up the insurances and they don’t just get cancelled with each provider but they probably do by Halifax.

Another text from Halifax just now, saying my switch is on track, and that they had paid £100 today.

errm. 5 hours ago, you sent a text saying the switch is complete, Halifax. And you paid the £100 two days ago.  :D
  • Has anyone opened a second reward account who already held 1 and received the £100?

I opened a reward account last Wednesday to make it a joint and have had nothing but problems. Misinformation from numerous staff regarding ID, which delayed us taking our ID in, to today when we should have had our telephone appointment, to be told they can't do it as they haven't received the ID from our local branch and the member of staff should have ID'd us via chip and pin using our existing cards (which we didn't have on us, as don't use and were never told to take with us (only told photo ID)).

I explained that we couldn't get into the branch again and wait another 5 days, as going away until October and if I could keep it a sole then I will do so until I can make it a joint. I was originally told that I can have 3 accounts, but when I stated the T&C's state only 1 joint and 1 sole reward, I was advised that it could take from a week to months before it's picked up and so to make it a joint when we get back.

I know that I can't activate the Reward Extra until it is a joint as I already have this on my existing account, but just wondered if anyone has received the £100 from opening a second or have acknowledge in regards to how quickly Halifax close second accounts?
