Me too! After all my self induced drama after reading this thread!
So have you downgraded yet ? 😁
No I at least have to let the switch take place tomorrow first or they’d be switching into the wrong type of account, then maybe leave a day or two but before next Monday so within the 14 day cooling off period. Will go down to a standard current account.

Has anyone opened a second reward account who already held 1 and received the £100?

Yes, however I went a slightly different route.
Downgraded my original rewards account to a simple current account then opened a new reward account then initiated a switch.
Downgrading will cost me this months £5 whereas opening a new Ultimate Rewards and then downgrading would cost £ ???  (who knows)
Either way there will be a cost, which is the better (cheaper) option is anyone's guess. I chose the one that had certainty and didn't need to make anything joint which, judging by your experience is a pain.
  • can confirm have also received it on Tuesday, 2 days before switch completed.
We are currently switching my wife too. Had to open a Monzo account and switching that one.

but will that make you ineligible for the £5 monthly reward payment until the anniversary of the original account opening/ upgrade?

Those downgrading an existing Reward account to open a new one should still be able to qualify for a Reward Extra this month by qualifying under the new account, assuming they go for the debit card option.

Probably they’re using the recently opened reward account as the new reward account that’s used for rewards. The prior reward account (that has been downgraded to a normal account so as to allow a new reward account to be opened) will presumably be left as a normal account.

no sense downgrading account B to enable opening of account C and then downgrading account C so you can then re-upgrade account B.

can anyone confirm from recent experience that internal transfers from one halifax account to another still counts for the funding requirement?
    thank you.

Yes.... and if it didn't, it would be excluded in the terms.

For those of you downgrading to a standard current account once you've got the £100, can this be done online or do you need to call them? (waiting for my Internet Banking activation code in the post, switch completes Tuesday).
