Switch completed today for myself and another family member, no sign of the incentive payment on either account.
Update: Mine has just arrived about 5pm
No sign on the other account yet but soon hopefully. 0 -

100% correct.Herbalus said:
Probably they’re using the recently opened reward account as the new reward account that’s used for rewards. The prior reward account (that has been downgraded to a normal account so as to allow a new reward account to be opened) will presumably be left as a normal account.bigadaj said:
but will that make you ineligible for the £5 monthly reward payment until the anniversary of the original account opening/ upgrade?kaMelo said:
Yes, however I went a slightly different route.youngretired said:Has anyone opened a second reward account who already held 1 and received the £100?
Downgraded my original rewards account to a simple current account then opened a new reward account then initiated a switch.
Downgrading will cost me this months £5 whereas opening a new Ultimate Rewards and then downgrading would cost £ ??? (who knows)
Either way there will be a cost, which is the better (cheaper) option is anyone's guess. I chose the one that had certainty and didn't need to make anything joint which, judging by your experience is a pain.
no sense downgrading account B to enable opening of account C and then downgrading account C so you can then re-upgrade account B.
The original reward account is now a current account and will remain so, or at least until someone else has a switch offer I can use then it will be the donor account.
The new reward account will remain a reward account.0 -
I’ve read most of the posts on this thread, but are we certain that upgrading a standard current account to a Reward account, and then switching to it, doesn’t count? I’ve just upgraded in this way (same sort code and account number) but all of the emails I’ve had from Halifax make this sound like a new Reward account, and I guess you could argue it is a new Reward account because it wasn’t that before?! Just checking before I risk opening an Ultimate account and paying the fee...0

I think you must have missed the posts that say it has to be a brand new account. Funnily enough the terms and conditions also say that, which trump information on an Internet forum which can be wrong. Terms say to “open” a new account whereas you have upgraded an account.

you must also have missed the posts where people talk about subsequently downgrading an ultimate reward account and most interpretations are that it’s within the cooling off period so no fee is due. We will have to wait until early September to know for sure, but I can tell you for certain that upgrading an existing account to a reward doesn’t qualify, so you’ll have to open some kind of new account to get the offer anyway.
whether that’s an ultimate reward, or a new reward if you downgrade the account you’ve just upgraded, I will leave to you0 -
After I’ve upgraded my account I get an email from Halifax saying my application has been successful and my ‘new reward account is open’. Exact words. Which makes me think I’m going to give it a go and just complain if they don’t honour it.0

It's sort of obvious to me from the offer T&Cs.7sefton said:I’ve read most of the posts on this thread, but are we certain that upgrading a standard current account to a Reward account, and then switching to it, doesn’t count?
