Hopefully all is well but do not be surprised if they take it back bearing in mind what is states in their terms and conditions.
I applied in all innocence for these switches as these were the accounts that were not used.  The T&Cs I was following did not mention that they were not eligible.  I don't know how many versions of the T&Cs are around but the one I found at the time does not mention Bank of Scotland.  The following is still on their website:
To qualify for the £100 switching offer (“the offer”) you must open a new Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Current Account and use the ‘Current Account Switch Service’. The following conditions apply:
    • Apply for a new Reward Current Account (£3 monthly maintaining the account fee applies) or new Ultimate Reward Current Account (£17 monthly maintaining the account fee applies) (‘Qualifying Account’)
    • Use the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ to transfer all the active credits and debits from the bank account that you hold with another bank to the Qualifying Account and close your old account with the other bank.
    • The Qualifying Account must be opened between 04/08/2020 and 14/09/2020 and the switch started by 14/09/2020.
You are not eligible for the offer if:
    • You open and switch to any account other than a new Reward Current Account or new Ultimate Reward Current Account.
    • You change your existing current account to a Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Current Account and switch to that account.
    • Since April 2018 you received a switching offer for switching to a Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Current Account.
    1. The offer applies to applications received in branch, online or by phone from the 04/08/2020 to 14/09/2020. The offer is subject to change and can be withdrawn without notice at any time.
    1. The offer does not automatically guarantee an arranged overdraft and any application will be subject to status. If your account has an arranged overdraft you will not pay any daily arranged overdraft interest for 6 months.
    1. After 6 months, or if you change your account, you will be charged daily arranged overdraft interest applicable to the account you hold if you use your arranged overdraft. Please see the Bank accounts and switching to us leaflet for full details on arranged overdraft interest. You will have been given this when you opened your account, but if you would like another one, please ask in branch or look at https://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/switch-to-halifax/
    1. Only one offer is available per customer. Joint accounts will only be eligible for one payment.
    1. The offer will be paid directly into your account by the time your switch has completed and will appear as a cash credit. The offer is not available to employees of Lloyds Banking Group, or if the employee is named on any bank account held in joint names.
So if the Halifax take the bonus back, I will certainly put in a complaint.

"Use the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ to transfer all the active credits and debits from the bank account that you hold with another bank to the Qualifying Account and close your old account with the other bank." is the room for doubt.
Some fear/argue that BoS is NOT 'another bank' (same bank, different brand/same licence).
My advice would be is if you've got other options, use them and avoid the doubt.
But if it still uses the cass and, as others have posted, have got their bonus...

  • Got my debit card today, but no PIN as yet.
Can I still use the debit card to fund my NS&I account, or do I have to wait for the PIN to activate it in a transaction that requires a PIN?

Why not just try it for a small amount?

I’ve never used a Halifax card in an atm or other card terminal, or even opened the PIN envelopes for that matter, and just use them online without issue. You don’t need the PIN to activate.

So you are saying you are able to use your Halifax card without it ever been activated?

    Yes.

There is no way to activate a Halifax debit card, either.

Oh, I thought you 'activated' a debit card by sticking it in an ATM or purchasing something and entering the PIN :open_mouth:

My card arrived on Monday. As of now, I am still waiting for the PIN, which means I can't use the physical card in an ATM, a shop terminal or for contactless payments. I could use it with ApplePay and for online purchases, however.

EDIT: scratch ApplePay. Whilst I was able to add the card to ApplePay, I can't buy anything with it until I have made a PIN transaction.

Why not switch it to another one of your other accounts?
