Was totally unexpected as I was using the arranged overdraft (£500) when I got my first mortgage with them. They must be restricting the lending. Would advise to use a broker if anyone is in the same position, don't be too disheartened, there will still be lenders willing to lend!Is it just me, or does it seem a bit silly if it’s all been paid off and cancelled? That proves it can’t happen again.0

It was one thing to wait for my own mortgage, but to now be going through it again waiting on my buyer all because of Nationwide's timescales...😟0 -
Hi All,I'm new to the forum and I registered specifically to give those people waiting some hope.We have been through the hell of waiting for a decision but I want to say hang in there!First time buyers - 85% LTV, Part gifted, part savingsOur timeline -8th August, Offer on property accepted9th, Broker / Mortgage Search which resulted in Nationwide15th Application Submitted17th Acknowledgement of application19th Valuation26th Valuation Received and being reviewedUnknown date, Valuation approved, everything was fine27th August, an incredible about of messing about, getting gift forms submitted because we received gifts from both sets of parents.Unknown Date, Contact Nationwide outside of broker because the deal seems dead and the Vendors are starting to twitch. Borderline mania exchanging messages with our popular online Broker who we won't be using again. They finally find out that Nationwide think all the money is gifted so our application has sat deffered for weeks. We just left things for a bit as the timescales to review documents ballooned out of control. The message that we are also using our savings is finally relayed to Nationwide. We thought sending them bank statements from our respective savings accounts might of been enough? Clearly not.Several weeks of despair and soul searching, Props to the estate agents who know about all the delays, the agent dealing with us is excellent and continues to keep the vendors on side and does her best to quell our anxiety.Whilst this is all going on the legal work flies through. The vendors want(ed) a quick sale, they are moving abroad.Yesterday Saturday 26th September at 9.02 am, literally just out of bed with a cup of tea... The magic words via SMSHi, Nationwide here, We're pleased to let you know we've issued a mortgage offer. Please make sure you read the offer carefully.Result! This is our second attempt at buying a house this year, the last one turned out to have so many issues we walked away, we had that mortgage setup with Coventry so to have to wait so long for Nationwide really made us question if we were worthy whilst at the same time discussing with ourselves why would they reject us, our credit records are excellent, we have good secure jobs, we earn more than enough to afford this.It is difficult to wait but please hang in there, it'll be worth it especially if the estate agent you are kind and are not threatening to put the property back on the market. (We had that with the last place, I won't mention the agents).Good luck everyone!1
