    @Carmenxox I'm still waiting from 10th August 🤷‍♀️
That's so awful! Are you going through a broker or direct?

The lack of communication between the MA, nationwide and us is shocking. The estate agent has started to call and press for updates which we don't have! FTB
    dip 1/9/20
    Full application same day
    85% LTV
    Valuation booked for 4/9/20
    Valuation been carried out.
An explanation of the deposit was requested 17/9/20
    Explanation given same day
Now nothing! Don't even know if the valuation was ok? MA just repeats he has sent all relevant information. When they requested the explanation they said there was a 10 working day turn around feel totally out of the loop. how long is this all supposed to take. The house needs some updating at this rate won't be in for Christmas
The working days for normal cases (non referred) is 21 days average according to their service levels currently. You'd be on working day 17 from my reckoning so potentially a little longer to go yet, it's only an average. They are extremely busy. I applied on 13th August and am only really getting questions in the last couple of days and timescales for referred cases are 36 days average.

In the beginning, the MA said that the case was straight forward. The one Argos card was cleared months ago. There is no debt, no overdrafts, and no furlough. I think it was referred, due to the LTV. Though The MA didn't answer the question when I asked. we have been reluctant to start the searches so have instructed the solicitors not at start, till mortgage offer is received  but I'm thinking we may have to risk it, and pray. We  discovered Hard search has been completed. Not sure if this means a step closer or not. The estate agent has said that things are taking a bit longer however in most of the cases she has dealt with since covid it's been in a month. So who knows. I do know this is not an experience I wish to repeat. Wish you luck

    My timescale so far is:
    01/09: application submitted
09/09: documents received and passed to underwriter.
    10/09: hard search
    21/09: valuation booked
22/09: valuation complete and report received and under review.

    Wow! That’s amazing! Congratulations.

I hope you don’t mind me asking, did you use a broker and did you have any debts to declare? It sounds like your application would have been very straight forward!
Thanks, but I don't think I'm that far along in the process. I applied direct but because the value was lower than the dip it forced the dip again. Most people seemed to have their valuations booked within a couple of days of application.
  • Im stuck now :-(

Broker told me Tuesday they were ready to offer (renegotiated house price due to down valuation) so took this as good sign that once the new value was submitted we would get confirmation of the offer but nothing...... And shes now said 10 days which means they are having to check it?? Not even sure if its been to underwriting

god i hate this, i feel so ill with the stress of it all :-(

  • Hi all, I’m new to this thread. Applied to NW myself on 23/09 (yesterday!). Valuation was quickly booked and carried out this morning.  Request for payslips and proof of deposit. (ID docs provided before at DIP stage).

I’m a bundle of nerves now. I’m a FTB, applying for 85% on a £215k house which has taken me a year to find. I keep worrying about the underwriting stage as there’s factors such as 1 default on my credit report from 2016, which I fully satisfied this year. A couple of late CC payments over 12 months ago. I’ve also just changed jobs 2 months ago with 1 month employment gap. I was in my last job for 7 years (made redundant in July). New salary is £65k so not worried about affordability. I have no debts, loans or ODs at all and all my 15% deposit is from savings.

Does anyone know what the real likelihood is of me being accepted with the above? Any advise or experience would be greatly appreciated!
  • I've just had a call from our estate agent to say that the entire chain is ready to go once we have our mortgage offer. Can't believe that we are still waiting for one document to be dealt with by Nationwide. So frustrating!

Unfortunately had mine declined today after 28 working days (FTB, 83% LTV) due to being in overdraft during one of the bank statements I provided. Has anyone had any experience with appealing a decision? I could not really find anything about the process online.

I have had a pay rise since my application and I was in only in an arranged overdraft (interest free) to pay off final debt from a Masters I completed 2 years ago, so I am hoping they might re-consider on appeal.
    Hi  sorry to hear this.
Nationwide also declined our mortgage back in August after a 5 week wait. The reason was becsuse I used my overdraft during lockdown but it had been paid in full before we applied.
We were absolutely gutted and ended up having to withdraw from our purchase. 😭

We’ve applied with NW through a broker, my partner had an arranged overdraft which he was in each month but it’s all been paid off and our broker seems to think it won’t be a problem!
Was your overdraft an authorised one? How much was your limit if you don’t mind me asking?
