    Hi all,
Newby here. Not too sure on the process and what to expect.
I applied for an MIP on the 18th, it got approved a couple of days later and on the 21st I submitted the documents they requested (bank statements / pay slips / proof of address). I've now been told to wait 16 days until they are assessed. Is this correct?
What can I do in the time waiting? What can I expect to happen in 16 days? Any help would be appreciated.
You may get another text in the meantime to say that a valutation has been booked, or you may just hear nothing. I applied on 13th Aug and only just hearing progress with mine in the last week or so. Nothing about the valuation stage yet.
Okay great. Thank you. This thread seems extremely useful.
So what have you heard recently? What kind of progress? Are you expecting to hear about a valuation soon? Sorry for being stupid but what does the valuation entail?
Had another this morning requesting proof of one of my deposit sources, which doesn't seem to have made it to them, so emailed that back straight away.
Did this not mean you had to wait another 2-3 weeks for the document to be checked? Also what do you mean by this? What kind of deposit was it and why did this need clarifying by them?
I am a tad worried because I deposited 4k cash into my account about 3 weeks ago knowing I'd need it for a deposit. Previously I'd saved that cash in my house for years. I'm hoping they don't reject me because of that.
So we have been told that we have to wait until 2nd October for one document to be reviewed and that is all that is holding our case up.
Just had an email back from broker advising they've uploaded the missing deposit document and advised the current timescale of 10 working days. Hoping it's sooner and that there aren't any other questions to surprise us with after.

Unfortunately had mine declined today after 28 working days (FTB, 83% LTV) due to being in overdraft during one of the bank statements I provided. Has anyone had any experience with appealing a decision? I could not really find anything about the process online.

I have had a pay rise since my application and I was in only in an arranged overdraft (interest free) to pay off final debt from a Masters I completed 2 years ago, so I am hoping they might re-consider on appeal.
How long were you in the overdraft for?

  • I'm waiting on my buyers mortgage to go through with Nationwide and it's absolutely killing me waiting for news. They applied 24th August, had a valuation booked for 14th Sept...that was then cancelled 2nd Septe-booked with a new valuation date for 2nd Sept (yes, same day. Guess they decided to do a remote valuation?) Buyer was then told Nationwide would review the valuation last Thursday and 'have paperwork' this Wednesday....still no news.

My mortgage was offered 4 days after valuation with Halifax. What's Nationwide's excuse for all this?
Potentially going to lose my house because of buyers wait through Nationwide 😟
  • Whoops. So many typing errors above. Think it's because I was typing with so much frustration! I don't even know how to edit posts on here. I'm sure you all get the idea and if you're going through anything like me...no doubt feel my pain!
  • @Carmenxox I'm still waiting from 10th August 🤷‍♀️

  • How do you all know when you're documents have are with the underwriters/passed these check? Do you get a text or have you contact them/your broker?
First time buyer (FTB) - 90% Loan to value (LTV)
    Nationwide Application
01/09 - confirmation of application being received
11/09 - Alert from Clear Score of hard check being carried out
25/09 - Spoke with Nationwide via 'web chat' box on their website and they confirmed our documents hadn't been reviewed yet
27/10 - request for payslips (even though they were provided to our broker at the beginning of the application)
31/10 - Mortgage appointment with Barclays to explore Springboard mortgage options
  • The lack of communication between the MA, nationwide and us is shocking. The estate agent has started to call and press for updates which we don't have! FTB
    dip 1/9/20
    Full application same day
    85% LTV
    Valuation booked for 4/9/20
    Valuation been carried out.
An explanation of the deposit was requested 17/9/20
    Explanation given same day
Now nothing! Don't even know if the valuation was ok? MA just repeats he has sent all relevant information. When they requested the explanation they said there was a 10 working day turn around feel totally out of the loop. how long is this all supposed to take. The house needs some updating at this rate won't be in for Christmas
