    Thank you :)
I'm guessing my broker speaking to their BDM who said who would try and push it through actually worked, otherwise I'd have been waiting 10 working days to look at this document.  I know they're overworked at the minute but it's just been ridiculous amount of time lol

Here's hoping they're offering their staff as much as overtime as they like at the moment with it being so busy, that might be why.  Or it might be as the BDM escalated the case not sure, but I do hope your's will come soon.  The main thing for me was the stress of the seller's having to wait.  They've had at least 4 other offers for the full asking price, but I guess I'm not in a chain which is a benefit as they are emigrating to Australia so the next step with solicitor' should be realively smooth I hope.

Thanks very much.  Yeah on to the next challenge haha.  My searches were ordered on 17th and a few have come back already luckily, and we've got the contract from the seller already.

Something bit strange though, apparently my current house I am remortgaging is missing a deed from 1846 lol - my original solicitor 8 years ago never queried that, but this new one is, so I'm getting a quote for an indemnity policy, really hope it's cheap lol.  The seller is leaving loads of furniture too as they are emigrating so we're going down this week to finalise that, and now I'm looking up all the landlord requirements, checks etc I've got to do haha.

    Hi all,
Read this post from start to finish.
Currently have an 80k mortgage with nationwide. We've outgrown our home and we're now looking for a 250k mortgage with a 15% deposit. It is our intention just to stay with the nationwide. As we are existing customers the proposal is that the existing 80k mortgage will be at the same rate and will remain on our current deal at the same rate. The additional borrowing is slightly higher rate but nothing concerning.

On the 26th Aug we received a text saying good news the mortgage product has been reserved.

Moments later a text "hi nationwide here. we've received your mortgage application. if you're an existing customer switching to a new deal, your switch has been accepted" we assumed this meant it was a done deal but now I'm not so sure - anyone else had experience of this? (This is how I found this thread searching on the body of this text message as it was on the original post.)

On the same day we received a further text saying we've received your mortgage application and then a 3rd text confirming the valuation was booked for the 27 August.

On the 27th August we received a text confirming the valuation report had arrived. I note some people immediately received an offer of a mortgage once the valuation report arrived which has concerned me slightly.

What are peoples opinions? Anone else had a nationwide mortgage and upped the amount? I assume it's just a waiting game?
  • Hi all, I'm joining the party, such as it is!
We put in our application for a FTB mortgage on Jun 29th initially, valuation done on 9th Aug and report received soon after, all fine. Email received a week last Monday to say we had been declined as too much of our 10% deposit had been gifted (we hadn't known this was a possibility until after we had put in the application).
The next day we put in a revised application with a 15% deposit £10,000 gifted £8,000 our own savings on a £120,000 house and we're now 13 days in to waiting for a decision to be made. We're both getting a lot of sleepless nights!
