Soft credit check 18/8
Valuation booked 2/9
Going for a new build that doesn’t look cosy just yet.
A bit stressed as my other half accidentally missed one credit card payment 71 months ago (6 year check is 72 months... of course it is!). Also I have a few grand still on an interest free credit card from buying a car a few years ago.I’m just into the ‘good’ credit rating of all 3 of the major companies. Other half is on the borderline of average/good.MB sent off our last 2 payslips and last 2 bank statements with the full application. Both work full-time, no furlough or anything.Fingers crossed, I’ll keep updating in case anybody else is in a similar situation. Good luck to everyone else too and thanks for sharing, helped me not to expect a quick decision!
Just commenting on the credit situation, when I met my partner 5 years ago, he had a horrible credit history, debts and CCJ’s.We worked really hard to pay it all off within the space of a year, so his credit score was finally okay but not amazing.Which is a shame because he brings in the better income but neither of us have been furloughed and worked right through all of this pandemic, with two dependents. We have had our hard search done before our valuation and nothing seems to have caused an issue so far, so I’m sure you will be absolutely fine and sail through it all 🥳🤞🏻Nationwide application- FTB, 85% LTV

Out of interest, how do you know the underwriting has been done upfront? I had a hard search done on my credit file by NW on 17th August but as my other post says, still waiting for valuation report to be approved. So wondering if the hard search is part of the underwriting process?0

I think the hard search is part of the underwriting process but depending on the risk profile they assign you this either happens before valuation is instructed or at the same time. So in my case for example the valuation has not yet been instructed and I am on day 12, so I think underwriting is happening upfront (also makes sense as a hard search has already happened) but there's clearly many people where both is happening concurrently.Initial property found & offer accepted: 24/09/2020
Full application: 25/09/2020
...everything feel through due to a missing EWS1 form in late October...
New property found and offer accepted: 9/11/2020
Change of property request: 10/11/2020
Mortgage offer received: 15/11/2020
Searches back: 06/12/2020
Exchange: 26/02/2021
Completion: 04/02/2021 - wohooo!0 -
