  • Just updating this. Hard credit check carried out yesterday by the looks of it!
  • We had a text/email update when the valuation had been booked and then when the report had been received and accepted.

Could it be possible that they have done a desktop valuation/AVM? Your broker should be able to advise.

Nationwide time scales really seem like pot luck. Some applications seem to sail through and others stall - I guess it depends on the complexity of the case and whether it requires full underwriting.

I've been told by the MB I'll hear back from Nationwide by the 27th so hopefully, it's fairly straightforward without a referral.

Has anyone had any issues with gift deposits? We were almost at completion when suddenly our solicitor said Nationwide need to approve the gift deposit. I found that really weird since we already had our mortgage offer come through ages ago. Surely this is something which the bank would have checked before?
Also an potential issue is originally the form had 10% written on it but since then Nationwide asked for 15% deposit so I have had to re-do the form and put a higher amount. Will this change anything? I mean they won't turn down the mortgage now, will they?

Long-term Lurker, thought it was time I got more involved..

This is our second go with Nationwide. Had the first mortgage agreed earlier in the year, but seller being a PITA meant that it timed-out and in the end we reassessed and moved on to a different property, so have started from scratch.

    The story so far...

9th August 2022 - Offer in principle / Soft Search
    15th August 2022 - Mortgage Application Submitted
    16th August 2022 - Hard search
22nd August 2022 - Request for Additional Paperwork - Proofs of income
23rd August 2022 - Valuation Booked. Haven't heard any more so we're presuming it happened.

    TBC

I learned the hard way, don't take anything for granted... in our case, the valuation happened but Nationwide didn't have a clue about it! They actually chased us to contact the estate agent to get the valuation arranged, a week after it had been done :#

Thanks @Sophie4120 - I’ll chase the broker tomorrow and see if they can find out.

    All good fun… 😎
  • Update: broker said not to expect anything until 23/06. Nationwide's waiting times are getting worse. 😱
    Insanity slowly kicking in...
It’s crazy isn’t it. We got told 29/06 last week to process an answer on our proof of deposit that would take someone 2 minutes to look at but I feel fairly sure they’ll just ask another question and kick us back to the bottom of the pile.

Glad some people have had their offers through anyway.
Have they checked your proof of deposit now & approved it? We are waiting for our gift deposit form to be approved & it's taking them ages..I think it has been a week and a half already 😒
  • Just wanted to give our recent Nationwide experience, actually hugely positive...

23rd August - Broker agreed mortgage in principle with Nationwide

23rd August (later in the day) - Full application submitted by broker

25th August - Valuation takes place (very quick!)

1st September - Valuation approved and mortgage offer issued

Amazing how quickly it came through to be honest - 85% LTV on a new build for quite a high purchase price but Nationwide did an excellent job turning it round so quickly!

Haha to be fair I am waiting on another building society with a better rate and higher mortgage to come back to us with a decision. They are incrediblyyyyyy slow compared to Nationwide!
