    Morning all,

Has anyone called the mortgage line for an update? If so, how long do you typically wait and when is the best time to call?

I've never found a good time unless you dial just before the line opens in the morning and know how long each option menu takes to get through!
Longest wait I've had was an hour and ten minutes, shortest about ten minutes. I'd ensure you have a solid hour available!

No that’s not Including weekends, including weekends we are 42 days and week 6! Our car is on its way out too and obviously can’t apply for finance whilst the process is still ongoing 😫

Our application took 11.5 weeks after initially submitting our application on 11 April, we got our mortgage approved FINALLY on 30 June. The reason it took so long was because they "had no valuation appointments" for weeks, then when we were meant to have the valuation appointment, "the equipment was broken", so it got pushed another THREE WEEKS, and then we had to wait another 15 working days for the results of the valuation after it had happened. It's beyond frustrating how long it takes. Then they put the wrong purchase price on the mortgage document to top it all off as they downvalued it, but we are still paying full price (but they still need to put the full asking price on the mortgage document) .. that took another day.  I know it's no comfort to you, but know you are not the only person ...it seems to be incredibly common nowadays - SO ANNOYING!
  • Hi everyone, sorry if this is a silly question, but when you receive the offer digitally and paper based, there isn't anything that needs to be signed at this point is there to accept the offer?

I can see it mentions it is a mortgage deed (which also gets sent to the solicitor)needs signed, but just wanted to check in case I missed something that needs signed in the actual offer.

    Thanks.

Morning, no i didn't sign anything. You sign when the solicitor tells you to. They have to go over all the offer paperwork and check its all in order. Then you sign the contracts when they say to.
    My timeline is as follows:
    26/4 DIP referred
    27/4 DIP accepted
    10/5 Offer accepted on property
10/5 Full application done, April payslip requested
10/5 Hard search done - clearscore
11/5 Instructed solicitor and paid money onto account
11/5 Text to say valuation booked for 12/5
18/5 Broker emailed to say property down valued by 10k.
    18/5 Vendor accepted 10k reduction
18/5 Application resubmitted with amended figures.
23/5 Two texts together to say valuation received and being assessed and valuation accepted.
23/5 Subsequent soft search appears on clearscore
24/5 Broker requested bank statements for lender of deposit accounts and full statements for second bank account.
27/5 I rang NW myself for an update. Next update due on 13/6
28/5 Hard search appeared on credit karma and clearscore
    9/6 Mortgage offer received
9/6 Instructed solicitor again now that offer received
13/6 Mortgage paperwork received in post
5/7/22 Contract papers received from sellers solicitor to my solicitor(seller delayed this due to not filling out initial paperwork straight away).
    5/7/22 Searches have began.
25/7/22 Received title report and searches back
5/9/22 Contracts signed and returned in readiness for exchange

You sign the mortgage offer when you exchange.  Am just busy doing that now myself :)  and it's not a silly question at all!
  • Got our offer today from nationwide.

    Timeline:

    12/05 DIP accepted
    17/06 Application submitted
    17/06 Valuation booked in
    21/06 Valuation carried out
29/06 Valuation report received to Nationwide
04/07 Nationwide requested June payslip via MB
15/07 Email & Text received from nationwide with offer.

So happy and relieved, hoping it’s not too long now till we have completion date and key collection date.

I’m really regretting putting in an application with nationwide. Last time they spoke to us, they said because the house were buying is under market value (it’s my MILs), our LTV could go down and they could give us it at a better rate. We’ve waited 13 days for them to now ask our broker for a esw1 form which doesn’t even relate to our property as it isn’t a high rise, flat nor has cladding so they’ve clearly got us mixed up with someone else! Losing the will to live here 😫
