  • Valuation is requested on application (or a day after).

I’m issuing them currently and it went like this.

    App submitted 21/9
    Valuation booked 22/9
    Valuation took place 26/9
    Valuation report received 26/9
    Offer received 26/9

Was a very quick process for us given everything going on in the market at the moment!
  • Hi everyone.  Does anyone know what comms you generally receive from Nationwide through the mortgage application process when applying through a broker?

Do you get texts as and when it moves through each stage?  i.e a text when someone reviews your application, a text when a valuation is booked, a text when it has taken place, a text if they need more info, a text when they have issued an offer?

We applied on Mon 17th October, received the "We received your application" text and then haven't heard anything else since - just wondering whether the silence is good or bad or if you tend to get regular updates?

Their website says that they are working to an average of 4 days for initial assessment and 11 days from app to offer at the moment.  I would have hoped today it would have been looked at at the least.

Fingers are crossed for a simple and speedy process!

Yes texts at every stage. Probably just a valuation backlog

So we should get one when they actually pick the application up and assess it? Or is the next text after applying the valuation being booked?

Yeh, generally you get one to say application received, valuation booked, valuation complete/approved, and mortgage offer issued (hopefully!)
  • OK thats good to know.  I will chase my broker today anyway as he said he was going to contact them about Nationwide also doing all a Level 2 Homebuyers survey which I never heard back from him on.  Today is day 5 since app so hopefully hear something soon.  I forgot how nerve-wracking this process is!

From my experience, you don't tend to hear much throughout the process and each new document seems to take 5 - 7 days to review which is really frustrating. I'd just take the turnaround time with a pinch of salt as I started my application in July and my mortgage offer was only approved last week with a completion date of tomorrow (26th of October)

My case was slightly different though in all fairness as I'm single and an owner of a business so I had to provide Nationwide proof of paying tax. The property was undervalued by around £25k by Nationwide so I had to pay £8,750 on top of the £21,800 deposit but hey ho, less borrowed I guess.

In addition to that, I also had to clear all of my credit cards and provide an up-to-date statement of them cleared which took around 3 weeks in itself to get as you can't just request credit card statements apparently. So as you can see my application was pretty complex lol but at least I got there in the end!

    Good luck!
  • Yep it is quite annoying if your application just goes to the back of the queue again if they ask for another document.

They contacted our broker and I had to re-supply my wage slips as PDF's, as the JPG's I provided weren't clear enough for them apparently (?!).   That was on Monday, i'm hoping it's not going to take them another week to look at them and then come back to us next week and ask for something else.

I got my offer this afternoon, after full application submitted on the 20th and valuation conducted on the 24th. I’d expected my case would be comparatively straightforward, but a week was faster than I’d dared hope for.

Hoping everyone waiting gets good news soon.
