Our broker said they normally instruct valuation straight away and aim to get the underwriting done in the interim. With us it ended up being a desktop valuation which was done within 2 days of the application being submitted so the document checking and underwriting was all done after. It just depends on availability of surveyor and whether it's a desktop val or not I think.Sonson91 said:Do they normally book valuation after checking initial documents? I really hope so too, I'm so worn out from stressing. Our Broker said to us when I spoke to him last week our case had been escalated so should be much sooner than 6 days, whether that's the case remains to be seen! But I am hopeful we'll hear soon stillwishinghome said:
Good luck both of you! I really hope you get a final answer this week. The 6 working days to check a document is so painful. Our last doc was submitted first thing on the Thursday and our broker was told we would hear by close of play the following Friday. At 3pm Friday he rang to chase it up and was told the doc still hadn't been looked at and they said they would escalate it. At 4pm he rang again and was told it was now unlikely it would be done that day. Then at 4.15 the text and email came through to say the mortgage offer has been issued. So if you get towards the end of the 6th working day and haven't heard it's definitely worth chasing them up. I'm sure it was our broker chasing it that got us the offer on Friday.C_N_ said:
I'm in the same boat, ours went in 13th April, its been backwards and forwards and re-keyed apparently because of an IT fault. Hopefully this is the week as all feedback is there aren't any issue with the house or us!LostIt_ToBostik said:We applied almost 5 weeks ago now (April 14th) and STILL awaiting a decision (post valuation query). It is becoming immensely frustrating- we are FTB ready to go and it is the vendors second home so empty.
We had a full building survey carried out over a month ago which highlighted an old standing query with a beam that had been removed at some point (over 50 years ago) but the structure etc all fine - no signs of distress etc. NW aware and have had the report for 4 weeks. Our conveyancing is well underway - pretty much just waiting on a mortgage offer but as the weeks tick by I'm becoming ever despondent. We would just like a yes or no!0 -
The only way nationwide will improve their times is if it starts the impact business. Brokers need to tell people that if they go with nationwide it will slow their sale down.0

I don't think that's totally true, I got my mortgage offer in approx. 4 weeks. Even though mine took 4 weeks it still stressed me out! I was a fairly straight forward application thought I think.Redwino222 said:The only way nationwide will improve their times is if it starts the impact business. Maybe for complex applicants broker should forewarn people that NW are taking 6 working days to look at stuff. Because I do agree waiting 6 days for them to look at documents I can imagine being agonising if this happens more than once.

We had the same issue at the start with the IT fault and it having to be re keyed. Soooo stressful isn't it 😔C_N_ said:

I'm wondering this too. I had the 'booking date/report requested' stuff appear on the tracker on the same day that our full application was submitted, but I've not heard anything valuation related since - not sure if it's likely to be a desktop valuation or a physical visit. The tracker now says that our submitted documents have been checked and are satisfactory (this took exactly one calendar week after they were submitted via email; Saturday to Saturday) - so I shall let you know what happens next with regard to the valuation!Sonson91 said:Do they normally book valuation after checking initial documents? Have you tried to call them & ask? Im thinking to wait till Wednesday then give them a call (will be a week since I applied) as documents are awaiting approval yet. Have they asked for anything else as yet? Yes let me know how it goes!

Calling them on Wednesday sounds like a good plan if you've not heard anything, given it'll have been a week - would seem as if you'd reasonably allowed them enough time by then! I've not yet been asked for anything else and haven't yet called them - I thought I'd leave it a day or so in the hope that I get a text message soon about the valuation and don't have to, but I'm struggling to remain patient - I'm already finding it hard not to check the tracker constantly. I think I'll call on Wednesday too if I haven't heard by then.Sonson91 said:

It is strange how the procedure varies - a lot of people seem to get the valuation part sorted quite quickly but then are hanging on for ever waiting for document approval and so on! I guess as someone said above, it must depend on desktop versus physical valuation and availability of surveyors. The phone call from the surveyor to come and value our own house for our sale took a while to come through, and then the first date that they were available in our area was 2.5 weeks after the phone call - and this was Countrywide, who I believe are used by NW too! So you could see why in that instance NW might want to get all the other stuff sorted in the meantime.
I really do feel for those who had to have their applications rekeyed - that is so utterly painful

It's awful, but surely if they weren't going to offer it they wouldn't string us along for this amount of time. I wish I'd known they were going to be this slow as we'd have gone with someone like Halifax who seem to be turning around applications in days for straightforward cases and their rates seem pretty much the same.LostIt_ToBostik said:

We would hope as I've had some conflicting info on the last couple of phone calls....one said all documents have been processed and fine and was simply awaiting clarification re valuation and then the most recent said they were waiting for clarification re valuation before it is passed to the underwriters!!??!!C_N_ said:

I would have rather hoped 5 weeks in that all that was done?! I've also not seen any hard search on my credit score info either?
Like you, wishing now we had gone with Halifax. This really should have been so straightforward and yet here we are 🤦♀️
Will keep everything crossed for you too 🤞0
