Hoping this will help anyone who is waiting for updates. I spoke directly with Nationwide and they were super helpful on the phone I got a lot more info than via chat. We haven't had a valuation booked but are currently in the queue for the underwriter (they are working to 12 working days at the mo and we are on day 9), if all okay and nothing additional required the valuation will be instructed after that. We have also paid for the home buyers survey so not sure whether this is why we have the valuation after the application is assessed as some seem to have it right at the beginning.
    16/10 - Decision in principle
    22/10 - offer accepted
    30/10 - application submitted
10/11 - hard credit search (ClearScore)
13/11 - application cancelled due to wrong address submitted by MA
    16/11 - application re-submitted
25/11 - hard credit search (Credit Karma)
    10/12 - valuation booked for 18/12
18/12 - valuation and homebuyers survey completed
23/12 - mortgage offer received and homebuyers survey returned

I am the most impatient person going. I applied for our nationwide mortgage a week ago, got the text message and nothing since. Is this normal?
What stage are you currently at, application submitted?

Our application moved pretty quick to start with. Application submitted and conveyancer appointed on the same day. Had lots of forms and document requests within the first few days and it didn’t feel like it was going to be a long process.

Fast forward two weeks to today and Nationwide are still requesting documents from us as the ones we submitted were not quite right. It didn’t help that the person we spoke to on the phone didn’t seem very interested and gave us wrong info on what documents they required. What we are told when we phone them up is always slightly different to what the email says. Still getting emails going into the junk folder from Nationwide which doesn’t help.

On a positive note the person I spoke to today was super helpful. It’s taking Nationwide about one and a half days to view a document and say if its ok or not for us.

We are both self employed with a 40 something % LTV, remortgaging and requesting additional borrowing for an extension . Not sure what the next stage is for us, whether its a straight forward offer or if they dig into our finances a bit more. Already had survey last week and conveyancer has “received our mortgage deed” which is the latest update on the tracker.
Thanks for the reply. We had an aip in November and applied last weds but it went straight for referral which has made me nervous. As we have a low ltv we fixed our mortgage again at the end of Nov, let the first payment come out on the 1st and then applied om the 2nd which went down as suspicious behaviour - our broker assures me it is fine but I am really nervous! I thought a valuation would be booked by this point!
It sounds like you are close to having an offer!!

Did you apply directly through a broker?  So there is hope then that a valuation hasn't been booked yet!

We didnt have any additional surveys through NW and our valuation came only after the underwriter decision. Either it's pot luck or something to do with how it's submitted I imagine.

Yeah we went through a broker, seems a bit of pot luck if the valuation is done prior or post the underwriter stage!

Yes it does. My broker has just called and the underwriter won't be looking at it till the 21st December as and if everything is OK a valuation will be booked. My broker did say that it may be a desktop top one though.

When did you put your application in? The timeline seems so long I was told that we should know more by Friday but not holding my breath. We have the contract for the property, all searches completed, enquiries answered just waiting on the mortgage to be able to complete 😩

  • Hi all, adding my own timeline:
Existing NW mortgage holders, applying to borrow more for extension
17.11 applied online, 62% LTV based on NW online value for our house, DIP received, last month's payslips emailed
    23.11 Valuation survey completed
27.11 Property downvalued, NW advised we could either reduce amount we wanted to borrow or  borrow original amount and change our product to one with higher interest rate.  After doing the sums, phoned NW to request a reduction in loan amount. Advised 6 working days to process
04.12 DIP for original application amount
09.12 Called NW for update - due to change in loan amount, they are having to manually reenter the application, this could take up to 15 working days from 04.12, so by 29.12. Advised there shouldn't be an issue as DIP is already agreed, but I won't relax until I have the actual offer.....

  • Hello all,
Wanted to give you an update on my application, no formal offer yet from Nationwide however my broker has said that I am in the queue for an offer letter to be instructed, which nationwide have said, should be received by the 26th November... and have passed all assessments.
