Emailed broker asking for an update. Been two weeks since they amended our loan requirements and haven't heard a thing since. I anticipated that they will need updated proof of deposit but this hasn't been asked for yet, and I'll be hacked off if I'm told it's needed and it's another 1, 2 whatever weeks for it to be reviewed. I really appreciate the delays in the market but it's coming up 4 months since our application went in and it's not been complex etc apart from alterations after the valuation.
Have you tried calling Nationwide directly? Their number is 03457 30 20 11. This way it might be quicker to find out what's going on.
I did last week but got a bit of stick from the agent about not going through my broker. I will if I don't hear anything again

    Hi everyone,

So, after 11 weeks we got our mortgage offer today! Hooray!! 😃😃😃

Our timeline is pretty much this:
18th September - full application submitted via our broker.
It’s a FTB 90% LTV mortgage so it went to the underwriters.
We had to submit 3 payslips each, 3 months of bank statements each and a copy of my savings account statement showing the source of the deposit.
12th October - NW asked for more up to date bank statements and another copy of my savings account statement.
28th October - NW queried the origins of the deposit and whether it was classed as inheritance from my late dad or a gift from my mum (as my dads estate went to her as she was his legal next of kin). So my mam wrote a letter detailing that the money had come from the sale of dads house .
14th November - text from NW to say that the valuation had been booked for 18th.
18th November - valuation done and priced at what we offered for the house.
23rd November - homebuyers survey done.
4th December - offer issued! Phew!

We were worried as my partner did have an overdraft limit of £1000 which he was in every month up to the limit but we paid it off in full a month before we applied for the mortgage, we were petrified that it would result as a decline.
He did have some other debts that we paid off in full as well just before applying.

Thanks to everyone on here for their support whenever I’ve been on here having a wobble!
I wish the best and sincerest of luck to everyone else waiting for their offer ❤️❤️
    Fantastic, very relieved for you!

  • Hi everyone just wanted to update:

We are still waiting on a nationwide offer, 50 working days today!! However we applied with a different lender on Wednesday and received our offer from them this morning!! 3 working days!! We are blown away, so happy, after 10 weeks of complete stress and anxiety. I still can’t believe it. So to all the others waiting for an age and are outside nationwide’s service levels I would speak to your brokers about applying somewhere else. Nationwide are absolutely horrendous.
Also I’d advise checking checkmyfile.com it details your credit reports from the 4 credit agencies so you will be able to see absolutely everything a lender will.
Thank you for keeping me company on this crazy ride, it’s still touch and go if we will be in by Christmas but we might just do it!!
Good luck everyone still waiting xx
