    Hi guys,
My grant was approved for a free boilers but the guy said, it does NOT cover Heat Source Pump installation with boiler. NOW he is asking for £300 contribution just to install boiler. He told me that govt is not giving enough money now and I have to contribute some money toward boiler.
Can you guys tell me what is truth about greenhouse grant?
The GHG does not cover boilers, as far as I'm aware, so if you have a boiler grant it's not via GHG - which is what this thread is about.
The GHG grants do include some contribution by you - if you have submitted an application and got a voucher approved your contribution will be on the paperwork - it must, I'd say, be on the original quote you submitted for the scheme.
But, as above, I don't think boilers are in this scheme.
Edited to add:  Your boiler grant is I assume, one of the grants made by the previous (and ongoing) scheme which is described here:  https://www.gov.uk/energy-company-obligation
    Thanks for your reply.
I have submitted my application for Green House Grant for " ‘Hybrid Heat Pump’ " and I have been sent a quote from a company for  £9,991.80. Which I attached with my application.

I dont know pros and cons of  ‘Hybrid Heat Pump’ , as I have a combi gas boiler at the moment.
I doubt they will give you a grant for a hybrid heat pump, but I could be wrong or getting my wires crossed. The idea of the Green Home Grant is to replace carbon heating with low carbon heating, so replace a natural gas boiler with say an air source heat pump. A hybrid system incorporates both a gas boiler and something like an Air Source Heat Pump. The idea is the ASHP would manage most of the heating load until outside temperatures dropped to a point where it lost its efficiency and was working really hard and not achieving adequate heat, then the system would switch the load to the gas boiler which can provide higher heat and doesn't worry about weather comp. Whats the heating system you are looking at?
(I doubt they will give you a grant for a hybrid heat pump) -> One of the company guys came into my house than he sent me a quote after 3/4 weeks and they professionally install these Hybrid Heat Pump and they deal with all relevant issue. He think, I do qualify for the grant.

(A hybrid system incorporates both) -> Yes I have seen the video online but this system is going to use Electricity all the time. Do they have to replace all the radiators in the house?

I also had another guy came into our house and he said, we do qualify for a free boiler but he is asking £300 contributions.

Ask him what scheme the free  boiler  is for - if it is for the ECO Scheme then contact them and ask if you are required to pay a contribution, if so how much?
Post back and let us know.

Well after trying to get someone to quote since early November, we have a guy around today.

Unfortuantely we apparently don't qualify to have our upstairs insualted as there wouldn't be enough Sq Meters of insulation to meet the criteria.  Ditto with our flat roof or extension roof.

I’ve just phoned again (probably the 5th or 6th time) and the chap said all the checks had been done and everything seems fine. He’s going to escalate it within the audit team (?)

Thats good so hopefully will be approved very soon, I had to send photo ID which I did 3 days ago, alongside my complaint and MP intervention and got my voucher today. I do believe if it wasn’t for me complaining I would be still waiting! They clearly have looked at my case with no outstanding information and dealt with it to resolve my complaint. They definitely will have to change their process to speed things up as there is alot of bad publicity currently with regards to this in the media.

Can I ask how did you put in your complaint? I've done this twice over the phone now and have been promised a managers call back within 7 days, but each time the 7 days come and go and I don't hear anything. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
  • Update - I got my voucher!! Hang in there guys and good luck !
What is the expiry date on your voucher?
8 May. My installer tells me you can extend over the phone though.

Simple, always complain in writing, over the phone is no good.
