  • I think the point is installers are pulling out of the scheme as they are not getting paid and have lost faith in the system. Our network is now receiving vouchers applied for in November so they are months behind and now dropped the fund by over a billion, good luck on finding installers willing to install a £10k+ system hoping they will get paid at some point! Distributors, manufacturers, installers and staff all want paying, you cant hold their money for 3 months like they have theirs, let alone overheads etc etc If this was run as it was supposed to and we were paid within 5 days of completing the jobs and the jobs were issued within two weeks of application this would be running fine but its not and companies are laying staff off and going bankrupt, just like every other grant ran in this country it has not been applied to work! I know one company who has installed 33 ASHP's and been paid on just 3, he is out of pocket over 300k and is facing closure meaning all those pumps installed now have no engineer should they need them and worthless warranties. Most of us are small companies and cannot cope financially with money being held back, running costs are an integral part of running a small business and makes us all fragile, so to be promised work and payments swiftly all made sense, the truth was it was never going to happen. We have jumped through lots of hoops only to find out it was a waste of time. I wish you all luck with your applications but we like many others will not be participating any further.

As long as Johnsons mates still get paid handsomely for 'running' the scheme unfortunately I don't think the government care.  As our PM once famously said, **** business :(
  • We finally got paid so can crack on again, this month things have been moving quicker than ever. You have to persevere. We had our zoom meeting with the auditor direct, good meeting and within hours we got a positive outcome and payment notification emails. What your chosen installer my not want to tell you is after the first job payment most vouchers are flagged before payment for an audit. It took them 5 weeks to complete ours but we are back in business since. If anyone in the Midlands is looking for pitched roof loft insulation the spray type email us info@spraytheuk.com we are taking on more work so get in touch if your struggling.
  • Back to square one, my installer has pulled out of the scheme as he has not been paid for the work done. So I have to look for another installer and probably start all over again. I have my voucher but tradesmen are no longer interested in this scheme and will only do the work for a deposit and cash on completion. Oh well I think I will abandon this Grant Scheme and put it down to experience and start living a normal life again. The old saying of "If it sounds too good to be true" springs to mind.
  • I want to get an Air Source Heat Pump but as a disabled ex-serviceman I am being discriminated against because my war disability pension does not qualify me for the higher level grant of up to £10,000. My disability was assessed as being due to my service career but does not qualify me, whereas if I had been granted an Industrial Injury Disability Pension through injury in civilian employment I would qualify.
The Green Homes Grant dept don't want to know and the Veterans Agency say it's nothing to do with them.
I am disgusted at the blatant discrimination.
  • So eventually found a local installer. Wasn't happy going to the national companies as experience with these type of schemes means the companies are more concerned with the paperwork than doing the job properly. Had the quote and applied, after a fortnight had a more detailed quote from the installer, forwarded to GHG scheme. Had a reply regarding the update 5 days later saying the new quote had been added to the applications but no info on when the application will be considered. Also one of the 3 companies I'd asked for a quote has dropped out of the scheme(s).
Presently can't see me getting the grant, either in time or ever.
  • After being told that we would be eligible via numerous methods e.g. cold callers, leaflets through the post and a ‘door to door’ representative, plus other internet advertising, we decided to pursue it. This was despite our general belief that we wouldn’t get anything for free (we never get anything for free). Long story short is we got to the day of the new boiler installation and the survey for underfloor insulation. Work was due to start at 9am, nobody had arrived by mid morning.  We had confirmation in writing that it would be from 9am on the day in question. My partner phoned them to ask what was happening and they responded that we didn’t qualify because we are on LPG not mains gas. Although they had been given photos of our gas bottle connections at the application stage. However nobody was going to bother letting us know. Very unprofessional was my overall impression but I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. Ah well. Good luck everyone!
  • I applied for a green homes Grant and I received confirmation that I had a voucher however it was not for the full amount of my grant application , I know that as I am on pension credit I was entitled to the full amount, and after sending a copy of my pension information it was agreed that everything was now ok to e mail the correct voucher and they would cancel the old one . However after three phone calls and considering this has been going on since October I can’t get any joy. When I rang last week I was told a supervisor or manager would call me in two days, still waiting. My case has been highlighted as urgent still no joy.

That sounds like an ECO grant, not the Green Homes Grant that this thread is about.
  • Checked the dates on the quote today. It expires on Friday this week so went online and attempted via a chat session to find out if I'd be getting the grant. All I was told is 'it's in the queue to be assessed' even after pointing out the quote expires this week all the response was still disinterest in my situation.
Following that I wrote to my MP asking for support and also telling them that this slow response needs raising in Parliament cause many people are waiting to be told if they are getting a grant (or not).
Guess I'm not getting a grant.
