My quote doesn't have an expiry date on it, but it's over 3 months now :(

Checked the dates on the quote today. It expires on Friday this week so went online and attempted via a chat session to find out if I'd be getting the grant. All I was told is 'it's in the queue to be assessed' even after pointing out the quote expires this week all the response was still disinterest in my situation.
Following that I wrote to my MP asking for support and also telling them that this slow response needs raising in Parliament cause many people are waiting to be told if they are getting a grant (or not).
Guess I'm not getting a grant.
Why not ask your installer to extend your quote expiry date, then forward this to GHG before Friday.
You will have to move fast before your current quote expires on Friday.
I had a similar issue, I asked my installer to extend the expiry date which they did by 3 months,  they emailed me an updated quote the same day, which I then emailed to GHG.
You should be able to get the quote back,  with the expiry date extension the same day via email as the  extension date is the only thing they need to amend - once received, email it to GHG without delay.
    Good luck.

I want to get an Air Source Heat Pump but as a disabled ex-serviceman I am being discriminated against because my war disability pension does not qualify me for the higher level grant of up to £10,000. My disability was assessed as being due to my service career but does not qualify me, whereas if I had been granted an Industrial Injury Disability Pension through injury in civilian employment I would qualify.
The Green Homes Grant dept don't want to know and the Veterans Agency say it's nothing to do with them.
I am disgusted at the blatant discrimination.
Might be worth contacting local media / TV/ solicitor,  to highlight what’s going on - just a thought.

  • I'm clicking on the link for find installers but nothing is happening. It just keeps buffering, same with checking that engineers are certified. Same problem through gov UK website. Can anybody help please?

I’ve contacted every certified installer in a 200 mile radius. Only managed to get one to actually come out. And given what’s happening with them not being paid, it’s hardly surprising is it.

I’m in desperate need of double glazing but there’s no primary measure suitable since I don’t have cavity walls. Have concrete floors etc. So obviously can’t get the secondary  measure of double glazing. So even if There were participating tradesmen by me I’d not qualify anyway.

Good luck to those who have applied. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

The article is behind the Times paywall.  Here are the main points:
Boris Johnson’s flagship £1.5 billion green homes grant scheme is likely to be scrapped less than a year after it was launched in a blow for the government’s net-zero strategy.
The Times has been told that the scheme will come to an end in March after only 22,165 grants worth £94.1 million were issued. The initial target was to secure grants for 600,000 homes.
It was launched in September and the prime minister committed to extending it until March 2022 as part of his ten-point plan for tackling climate change.
However, the slow pace of the rollout has led to significant concern among ministers and the scheme is now expected to be scrapped, with a cut-off date. An announcement could be made as soon as next week.
It represents a setback for the prime minister’s commitment on cutting emissions to net zero by 2050. Ministers had already reduced the level of funding for next year to £320 million, citing concerns over the lack of take-up. That additional funding is now expected to be scrapped entirely.
If true this is a really pathetic action by the Government - a kick in the teeth to energy saving, to those still awaiting a grant, and to suppliers who invested in manpower and equipment to deal with the demand.  The incompetence is staggering.

I've just been reading up on the absolute ridiculousness of this entire scheme and those who run it. Is it surprising? No. Was it expected? Yes. What am I going to do about it? Try and get my insulation done before it's too late! And this is where I need your help please guys.

I have the oddest of things in my house. It's a timber frame build, built in 2003, It has 4 bedrooms. But 2 of the rooms just do not seem to heat up in winter. If one of those rooms heats up, the other is cold. If that other heats up, the first one is cold! The rest of the rooms and house are fine though!

I have underfloor heating on the ground floor, which is fine. It;s just on the first floor and those 2 bedrooms where the issue is.

In order to heat of the cold rooms, I need to set my thermostat to 3 - 4 degrees higher. So, if I want the cold rooms to each 21 degrees, I set the stat in the hallway to 24 degrees. Ouch, that hurts the gas bill.

Can anyone please offer me some advice? As it's a new build (albeit, built by an independent) I doubt it could be the wall insulation. If it is, I'm in trouble! I've check the double glazing and the seals and they all seem to be ok. There are no drafts anywhere to be found. I even shut the vents on the windows, but that made no difference at all.
Totally baffled. Maybe the place is haunted!!! In which case, i don't need insulation but an exorcist........

So both will heat up, but not at the same time?  And if you turn up the stat for the whole house you can get both warm?  I'm guessing those two rooms are next to each other?  If you turn off the radiator in one does the other then heat just like the rest in the house?

I'm not a heating engineer, just a geek with bluetooth thermometers in every room as I have a very poor heating system!  I'd guess that the cold rooms are on the end of your heating system, and the thermostat is near a heat source at the start, so that by the time the stat gets to the right temperature the boiler hasn't pushed enough hot water around yet to reach the last radiators.  Try turning down the radiator in the room you have the thermostat.

EDIT:  Just realised you have underfloor heating too, and I'm guessing in the room with the thermostat?  If your UFH is already on then the boiler has to do little work to raise the temperature to the level of your thermostat.
