I submitted my quote after speaking to my installer who had contacted the Scheme confirming everything the quote needed to have. after 3 weeks heard nothing so called only to be told the VAT was incorrect at 0%. Installer said he doesn't charge VAT and that he's had many applications approved with the same format quotes. Called the Scheme again to be told that he must charge and I must pay. He insists this isn't the case. The cost is £9k and I'm only eligible for £5k. So frustrating and it seems you can log a formal complaint but it means absolutely nothing.
just checked my quote and VAT has been included - don’t understand how your installer has not added VAT to your quote - sounds pretty reasonable GHG to expect them to do so , or am I missing something
Unfortunately I'm just the customer with no knowledge of how the VAT system works. I think it's something about not being VAT registered but genuinely I don't know hence I assumed the quote was submitted correctly. Due to the installer already receiving vouchers prior to mine I can only assume it is possible. Just not sure what else I can do and wondered if anyone had had similar issues.

The current VAT threshold is £85,000 if your supplier has a turnover or expected turnover in excess of this he must register and charge VAT on any vatable goods and services. VAT on insulation of homes is 5% not the standard 20%1

Hi all
Applied for GHG for loft and cavity insulation as well as heating controls in 19th Dec. Got my vouchers today. Few issues:
1. Although loft and cavity insulation was with the same firm and on same application, they have only sent me vouchers for loft insulation?? Should i wait in case the cavity voucher comes later?
2. Re heating controls, i got vouchers for this as well. The firm phoned me to today and asked me to forward them the email so they can 'update their database'? I thought this was odd as i thought the you can only claim the voucher once all work is completed satisfactorily? Am i right to be suspicious?

2. My installer also asked for the email voucher confirmation to be forwarded onto them to update their database, I had no issues doing this, as you correctly point out the voucher can only be claimed once YOU are satisfied with the completed work - YOU will be asked to complete an online form to state that the work has been done and all relevant certificates have been received and YOU are happy for GHG to release payment to your installer.
Hope this helps.0 -
Rang today , they now require a photo id from me! lol. Every time I ring I find out they require new information, what a joke, what will they want next? A urine sample? A negative covid test? or maybe they want me to go in person to confirm I am a human! Grrr1

I had a call from GHG yesterday saying my application was on hold as I needed to submit a more detailed quote. I told the person calling that I had already done that following the Christmas Eve email.
He checked the system and could see this. He checked with his manger and told me that my application had mistakenly been left on hold and he would release it and ask for it to be given some priority (won’t hold my breath). I did point out that after I had submitted the more detailed quote, I had twice asked if the information I had submitted was OK. Twice I received emails confirming it was! The person I was speaking to told me the process keeps changing which is why my application got left in hold.
I have no faith in this ever being resolved. I have written to the Government dept that is responsible for this scheme highlighting my concerns and surprise surprise have had no reply.0 -
I've now gone 5 weeks with no payment from the GHG despite doing everything they asked. They dont answer questions, they dont return calls and they are so far ignoring my written complaints. Not only is it nigh on impossible to get a voucher, but so far seems no chance of getting paid for the work either. Biggest shower of clowns to ever grace the earth. I dont think anyone can be this unintentionally disorganised and the scheme is set to fail while they big boys wait it out and cream it later on. I have invested nearly £100,000 being on the scheme and all its done its ruin my business. When you customers are being told companies are too busy to do your quote. Trust me they are not, they cant be arsed as they know what agro it is and then theres dozens of companies like mine owed fortunes for work done! Utter disgrace.3
