New Green Homes Grant to give up to £5,000 in vouchers for insulation and double-glazing

    Hi all. Just to let you know I've received my email today confirming I've got the vouchers for my flat roof insulation. I applied on the 2nd October and have chased then continually since. Keep the faith! 
    Well done for hanging in there.

    Thanks for letting us know, and sorry to hear its a nightmare for you also. I really don't know what to do anymore other than wait, but that waiting has been going on for 4 months, and theres nothing more frustrating than being told you will get a response and never getting it, so I feel your pain. 

    I wonder if collectively there is anything we can do? There just doesn't seem to be anyone to complain to who has any power of applications and issuing vouchers. Just an admin team who are as confused as we are!
    Only thing i would say, is if its been 4 months, you need to re apply with a fresh updated quote from your chosen supplier. We got asked to do SOOOOO many quotes with more information and when we did this, we had vouchers back within 2 days...... Its a complete flop, i have heard about 2 installers going bust over it when all they did was trust the scheme. Mental way to conduct a grant scheme. They even had the cheek to email us encouraging us to employ more staff and grow. Good job I didn't or I would of had a lot of angry employees asking for wages. In fact we have had to do the opposite and decrease our previously successful operation and hibernate it or we would of also fallen foul of this scheme and been bust. 

    I think if it continues we should start a Facebook page and invite our local mp's and national new papers to join and help us get heard!

    You say re-apply...but I did get asked for an updated quote a couple of months back with all the minute details. I obtained this quote. They then sent the standard email everyone got on xmas eve that they needed to confirm my ID and the quote seemed too high. 

    I sent them everything, so much ID, an explanation from the installers. I have been chasing and arguing ever since, they are useless. I have just got two emails this last Friday saying my complaints been logged etc etc. They have given me a case reference number, as apparently its 'stage one'. But they've said they'd contact me within 5 days a few times and never did. 

    Do you mean I should re-apply from scratch?

    Also, I am getting External wall insulation. I got a quote for extending the roof properly by a tile or two to cover the insulation, rather than use verge trim, which is a fair bit more expensive but I'd heard bad things about verge trims and my installer even said extending the roof would be much better. But yeah it brings the price up a couple of grand, I wondered if that is causing issues. 

    Any ideas?

    I also got the Christmas eve email. I didn't reapply. I submitted a second higher quote dating from October, also a generic  letter from my installer.  I also complained. A lot.
  • anyone wanting to add to the Guardian write up should email sandra.laville@theguardian.com she replied to me quite quick and is keen to make a bigger article with more weight. So you could all email her with the issues you have maybe we stoke the fire somewhat?

    Your situation is quite complicated due to having a few measures installed. All i know, when all my customers got that dreaded Xmas eve email, we re issued lots very quick and a little cheaper and we got voucher back within 2 days. Then they let me install 15 jobs, paid me on one, now owe me 14 jobs and wont respond with any thing sure to give me confidence to install more. We wont be fitting anymore..... total waste of time and its cost me nearly six figures plus loss of earning for me and staff over a 4 month period. Utter disgrace.....

    You now have to hope the lucky company want to do the work and hope they get paid from doing it. In the terms and conditions if the Guv dont pay, you dont have to either. All seems to stich up the installer..... I've read the T&C's all over and all they do is protect the scheme and not the installer.

    @delmonta - me personally after everything I went through,  I would not reapply - I was only one click away from re-applying, thank god I didn’t start the whole process again, as my vouchers came through a few days later. 
    I know first hand how difficult it can be be, trying to be patient, complaining, others getting vouchers before you even though you applied earlier - my only advice is to keep pursuing your application, I found my application progressed rapidly - when I stated in writing that I would contact the media and asked for a GHG managers contact name who could deal with them.
    Keep the faith, I know it’s difficult but hang in there. You’ll get there in the end😃

    I rang today to ask for progress, I was told they have all the information that is needed they have it now and someone will look into progressing this , when they can’t give a timescale. I am going to wait for one more week and then will start complaining!
  • At Last! Voucher received today after applying on Sept 30th 2020. Now the problem, voucher expiry date is 31st March 2021, 9 weeks time. Spoke to installer who stated he has had 15 customers over the last few days with vouchers all expire on March 31st. There is no way he can carry out all this work in that timescale so it looks that I might have to apply for an extension  however long that will take. I thought the vouchers were valid for 3 months. Has anyone had a voucher that expires
     after March 31st 2021? As the work is external the weather will play its part.
