I made a complaint and I now have a case number as well as an application number. Has anyone else got a case number?
Yeah I also have the same thing, although I didn't officially make a complaint, I just complained a lot!
I wonder if this is only going to make matters worse for our applications

I didn’t send one specific complaint but nearly every email I send has a complaint in it. It makes you wonder if they purposely put you to the back of the que if you chase them. I had a call Monday saying I had to send proof I owned my house and that my application would be expedited as I had waited so long. Still absolutely nothing.

I'm a little confused about this GHG malarkey but that may just be because I tend to believe what the government wants me to believe.

I'm an OAP on pension of c£800 a month, including Pension Credit.  I own my own house, which was built around 1850 and is heated with a 30 year old clapped-out oil-fired boiler that I can't afford to replace - but neither can I afford to keep paying £100+ every year for repairs.  I live in a tiny village right out in the country, so no mains gas for me.

The Magic Calculator tells me that I'm basically eligible for Roof Room insulation and that's it; not only no mention of a new boiler/alternative means of heating but also tricky, since I don't have a roof room and even a Hobbit can't stand up in my loft!

Am I just being dozy as usual and missing something crucial when trying to calculate any entitlement I might have or is this just another Bread and Circuses scam by HMG to take our minds off the Covid situation?
  • There are other schemes where you can apply for a Government grant to replace a boiler, even oil so they are not included in the GHG. If your household income is less than £16,000 you should be able to receive a grant towards replacement or to change to LPG or electric. For low incomes on benefits you may qualify for 100% grant

My mum was in the same situation as yourself ( also on pension credit)and what she did was used the green grant for a air source heat pump for her heating and hot water for which she got the full £10000 grant then used  ECO- Energy Company Obligation scheme for solid wall and loft insulation . For the ECO just do a search for ECO and EDF,British Gas or Eon etc whoever is your energy supplier
  • Hi,
So i am an installer on the GHGS....... What an absolute nightmare it is. Delays after delays and we are now over due on payment from the Guv too. They have not got a clue whats going on. All the mess and lack of communication your all dealing with is the same line of things we are. Only we are heading into our 5th month with no income.......No one in charge responds, no one takes responsibility and they ignore complaints even when they issue a case number, the 7 days comes and goes without response.

If I can help any of you with questions or queries, let me know and i ll try and help from an installers point of view.

Thanks for letting us know, and sorry to hear its a nightmare for you also. I really don't know what to do anymore other than wait, but that waiting has been going on for 4 months, and theres nothing more frustrating than being told you will get a response and never getting it, so I feel your pain.

I wonder if collectively there is anything we can do? There just doesn't seem to be anyone to complain to who has any power of applications and issuing vouchers. Just an admin team who are as confused as we are!

Only thing i would say, is if its been 4 months, you need to re apply with a fresh updated quote from your chosen supplier. We got asked to do SOOOOO many quotes with more information and when we did this, we had vouchers back within 2 days...... Its a complete flop, i have heard about 2 installers going bust over it when all they did was trust the scheme. Mental way to conduct a grant scheme. They even had the cheek to email us encouraging us to employ more staff and grow. Good job I didn't or I would of had a lot of angry employees asking for wages. In fact we have had to do the opposite and decrease our previously successful operation and hibernate it or we would of also fallen foul of this scheme and been bust.

I think if it continues we should start a Facebook page and invite our local mp's and national new papers to join and help us get heard!
  • Hi all. Just to let you know I've received my email today confirming I've got the vouchers for my flat roof insulation. I applied on the 2nd October and have chased then continually since. Keep the faith!
