Thanks Sam. I'll call them tomorrow. I'm so nervous calling trades people due to horrible past experiences.Sarn_B_T said:
No call out charge, they were SO professional and were at least 50% less cost than others who wouldn't even come out and do a survey and just sent email quotes. Could not recommend them enough. Haven't had work carried out yet as still awaiting my voucher but I have applied for them to carry out the work.A1ps said:
Thank you Sam. I will give them a call tomorrow.Sarn_B_T said:
You will see from previous posts I made on here that I had a fantastic experience with a company called InstaGroup - so professional, actually came and bothered to do a full survey and were the cheapest too from all those I contacted and the rest just emailed me a quote with over inflated prices! I am in Hertfordshire so not far from you and am sure they will cover your area.A1ps said:
Thanks Rajan. I'll try and find a specialist tomorrow. I also want to know just how much insulation I actually have. Like your house, 2 of my rooms are terrible at times! If one room is OK, the other is freezing. And if the other is fine, the other one is freezing!rajanm said:
You won't be able to tell is the short answer. The insulation company will come out and do a survey and drill some small holes into your walls to check whether it's possible. To be honest, my house was so cold that I'd have been shocked if it turned out cavity wall insulation had been installed!A1ps said:
A question from someone who knows nothing about this sort of stuff - how can I tell if my house can get cavity wall insulation? It's a timber frame house that was built in 2002/2003.rajanm said:I have now had my cavity wall insulation and loft insulation installed via the vouchers. I'm now waiting for the secondary voucher to be released for my external door. I used Saving Energy Ltd who were very good.
Can anyone recommend a good insulation specialist in or around Enfield, North London?
Do they have a call out charge? I'm conscious of how many times I've been bumped in the past with call out charges for tradesmen who have come along, quoted me, but having looked at the way they carried on, and the prices they quoted, there's no way I'd want to go with them. But, I still got bumped with the cost.
I appreciate they have spent time and money coming to me, but I also have to be sensible in my choice and don't want shoddy guys doing the work. In the past, where someone has done really good work at a fair price, I've actually paid more! That's the way I think is fair.
How much time do I have left to apply for vouchers? I'm gutted I've waited this long. Unfortunately I've just been consumed and stressed out with work and this got put to the back.of the queue.0 -
Ditto. Had quote with me by 1st Oct and submitted on 2nd Oct after the installer answered the few queries I had. Zero voucher news as yetdelmonta said:
Thanks, yeah I did all my research, and my quote ready as soon as it started. But no vouchers yetrajanm said:
I had done all my research before the scheme started and already had the company lined up. In fact, I had paid them a refundable deposit before I'd even applied for the vouchers just to keep me at the top of the queue for installation. They were really great in keeping in touch and helping me with the process. I applied for the vouchers a few days after launch and had the cavity wall installed about two days after my vouchers were confirmed.delmonta said:
Wow you actually had the work done already. I didnt realise anyone had. Good to know somethings happening. Out of interest, how quickly did you apply for the voucher after the scheme started?rajanm said:I have now had my cavity wall insulation and loft insulation installed via the vouchers. As expected GHG Applications have NOT gone live today !!
They do not know when the system will be up and running. Totally clueless - they fob you off every time you speak to them - same lines used every time. Can’t give you any updates other than your application is being processed - since mid Oct 2020 - really?
No advance on status of application since this date - Total Shambles !!

Yes, today is the day we were supposed to get access to our online portal to amend our applications. They seem to be just winging it as they go along. Why am I not surprised?1

We live near Southampton and were looking to have a Hive Active Heating system installed (and roof insulation if need be), the first three (not one, not two, but three!) companies I've contacted from the official website are either " We're no longer trading" or "Sorry we are not part of the scheme"! What a joke. The first company (who are miles away) that has said they can do a Heating Control system is 3 times the price of Hive so we may as well just get it direct, pay the full amount and not have any dicking about or the hassle of this half arsed harebrained scheme.Good luck y=to those of you that have managed to get anywhere with this.0

Much to my surprise, the voucher came through today for cavity wall insulation. Applied on the day it opened, probably around 7:30am.
I haven't sent through any updated information about labour hours etc so the new requirements clearly didn't apply as I applied before those were issued.1 -
I contacted Energy Care but they said they would not come out to me as I fall out of their area.Sarn_B_T said:

They did though recommend the following companies. Has anyone had any dealing with the companies below?
Inter Glow
Golden Globe
Saving Energy
I'd much rather go with someone who's been tried and tested rather than have a horror story like some described on here.
Thanks guys0 -
Yes Saving Energy have just installed cavity wall and loft insulation for me via the grant and I have to say they've been excellent.A1ps said:
