The government will bring forward, to 2023, the date by which new homes will need to be warmed without using gas heating.
This caught my eye - however the actual plan suggests something much less ambitious "[target milestone] By 2023 we will support industry to begin hydrogen heating trials in a local neighbourhood" Source: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/936567/10_POINT_PLAN_BOOKLET.pdf

Just had an email from an installer that couldn't be bothered to quote yet, asking me to update my details so they can maybe bother to quote in future.  I applied to them in early September, not sure I can be bothered!

Apologies- I stand corrected - just trying to do my best with the info that became available.

Yeah I applied in the first hour of the scheme on 29th Sep, only very recently got my confirmation email! Now I've got this email about the details that must be on the quote, but it seems ridiculous to ask for all those details.

I have just received this email as I contacted the Green Homes Grant regarding the email yesterday with quote requirements:

thank you for contacting the Green Homes Grant Scheme regarding your query.

We sincerely apologise for the confusion.

The requirements for new information is for new applicants only. Since you have applied before the new requirements were set out, this does not effect you.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

  • Installers were informed on Nov 11th of the change in the quote requirement. The communication states "For quotes which have been issued prior to the publication of this guidance, the above required detail for quotes and invoices does not apply. However, all quotes will be checked by the Scheme Administrator for quality purposes and if there are any issues the Customer and/or Installer will be contacted for further information."
So any quotes that have been issued after Nov 11th have to follow the new requirement, those made before are not affected. Difficult to understand why Green Homes Grants had to issue that email yesterday as the majority of applications contained quotes issued before Nov 11th.
  • Is anyone got ewi quotes to hand, what are your builders coming back with on 3 bed homes?

I'm getting EWI on the back of a terraced house, was about £3300. But now I'm getting the back done, and getting internal insulation on the two rooms that face the front, and having the roof extended by one tile on the back to cover the EWI. (this is quite a lot more expensive than using the bit of metal they usually use to stop rain getting behind the EWI.

    The final quote was £7500

The cynic in me would point out thats the exact point at which you start paying for it all yourself, and therefore the sweet spot for any quote!

It's awful to say but it kind of pays to be a cynic in today's UK. Government couldn't run a bath. Maybe they should've just started with them! Lol
