Hi is anyone SE here? We have an application with Santander nearly 9 weeks and nothing. People keep saying try Halifax we already have our mortgage with Halifax. We have an MB but feel let down by them.0
-
Hi
Yes my partner is. I can't offer advice but we are in the same boat. We waited about 6 weeks with santander to unfortunately be turned down. Although the business has been in profit, my partners earnings gave gone down a bit due to moving from salary to an incriment (can't think of right name 🤔) where he has a low base salary and then up to four lump sums through the year.
We are now going through the process again with halifax. Hoping that it works out better thus time or we will need to rent for a year or so instead which is far from ideal.0 -

Hi
We had the valuation first, soft and hard credit check, they had payslips, tax and accounts. So all the way through. They gave us a mortgage in principal very quickly but then the mortgage offer ran for weeks on end before being turned down. Apparently they have been in trouble for the amount of time it is taking and are the slowest of all lenders to process. The website, Santander for intermediaries gives a bit of a timeline which may or may not be helpful. Our application was through our mortgage broker, rather than directly. Not sure if that has an influence on processing time?
Hopefully you will hear very soon. Hoping for you it is positive xx0 -

Hi everyone thank you for your comments, so after 9 weeks Santander declined us, not really sure why, saying we don’t have 2 year books, we do. Santander business manager has no idea why she’s appealing. But already spoke to a new broker that did our friends Halifax mortgage. He says Santander are awful and Halifax is much better. So waiting for an answer from Santander today although sure it won’t be over turned. Then putting Halifax one in next week. Going to tell our seller the truth and pray he waits.0

I'm sorry to hear that. Hoping the appeal works. If not, so far, Halifax seem to be doing well for us. Hoping for an offer by tomorrow. Will let you know.
Halifax asked for tax returns but please note they want a full breakdown of earnings, benefits and pensions. Our accountants didn't have it in that format however was able to send them this another way eventually. They did want to see full accounts had this not been possible, which we wouldn't have been able to give them until next week when it's signed off. So if your accounts for this year are not ready, I'd advise get them signed off ASAP.
Hopefully I'll be able to write back tomorrow with positive news...0 -
In regards to seller, definitely just be honest. Hopefully they will wait.
Our seller is getting nervous and it's a real possibility that they'll put their house back on the market. Their estate agent told us not to worry yet, however if no news very soon, they will likely put a time limit on it before doing so. If this mortgage doesn't work out, that'll be a definite sadly 😔0 -
Did you hear back?
I've currently got a mortgage application ongoing with Halifax myself and they are taking a very long time to respond!
My application was submitted on the 24/11 and had an email to day it was approved the same day, valuation took place on the 1/12. They then requested paperwork regarding the house that was sent to them 11/12. Heard nothing since other than the MA saying large delays.
