Impossible you are lieing this can't be so quick
My broker did a lot of liaising with the lender in advance of the application and my credit history is clean. I was surprised too (pleasantly for once!), but the broker sent me some electronic paperwork last night. Paper copy in the post will take longer.

  • Anyone got any idea of Halifax's rationale for whether they do a desktop valuation or a physical inspection?

Mine was the same. In fact, my valuation was brought forward a day. They did the valuation in the afternoon and I had the offer by 09:30 the following morning. I had an email letter with the offer and the paperwork arrived around 8 days later. My solicitor got it around 14 days later.
