Looking on Zen internet they charge £6.51 a month for unlimited calls so quite a lot cheaper. Sky charge £10 a month for unlimited which includes mobiles Now broadband also includes mobile calls and is much cheaper than BT's price hikes.
Doing a dummy order as a new customer with BT 700 minutes is £7 a month £15 a month for unlimited so if you are already paying them for calls it could just mean that it is zero cost extra for you to pay. If not then maybe if it is free then it could be an offer exclusive to you. I would check carefully though as you could end up signing up for a new contract that isn't what you think it is. When I first read it I read it as £4.50 a month for unlimited calls until I read it carefully and noticed it was £4.50 extra on top of what I am already paying.
I never use the landline unless someone calls so the 700 minutes for free I may as well change to to keep my deal.1 -
Anyone interested in landline-only packages might like to look at <Pulse 8 Broadband> to see how it compares for them.

Not a bad increase - 44.5% when inflation is less than 1%. Currently I pay £10.11 for unlimited anytime calls (to landlines). The new 'deal' includes calls to mobiles - which I don't make from my landline. I've changed to the 700 minute plan (which is £3.11p cheaper than my existing plan). However, if I go over the 700 mins for 2 months, I will automatically be transferred on to the unlimited plan, hence costing me an extra £4.39 per month. It makes a mockery of the first line of the e mail, which should read 'we realise how important it is to keep in touch, so we'll charge you more'!! I called BT and explained I didn't want the facility to call mobiles from my landline but the stark reply was basically - you've no option!! Ah well, scouring broadband/phone packages for the next few days will give me something to do!!1

I will now be paying £37 a month including unlimited calls which includes mobile numbers staying with BT would have been £41 a month if I had accepted their offer of only putting it up by 50p a month when I rang them yesterday. Only difference with Sky is that I have to hang up and redial after 60 minutes which I do any way.0 -
fwiw, a few weeks ago, one of my relatives finally took the plunge to leave BT 76Mb superfast fibre 2 after 8 years of reliable service. BT was simply getting too expensive compared to competition. Best offer from BT was a downgrade to £31 pm for 55Mb Fibre 1, plus call plan cost. (eg. 500 mins for £5)
Switched to NOW 38Mb Fab fibre when it was on offer for £22 pm for 12 months a couple of weeks ago. Includes Anytime calls (inc mobiles) free for 12 months.
No issues with phone service switchover and telephone number porting (Only ever had BT or Virgin cable previously). There was an outage of 2 hours for the fibre service to switch over. Only comment is the NOW fibre hub (rebadged 2015 model Sky ER115 Sky Q hub) is not as good as former BT Smart hub (2016+ model) for wifi range. (BT smart hub is still considered to be 'best of bad bunch' of wifi routers provided free of charge)
NOW doesn't offer Call Protect (aka Sky Talk Shield) is other difference to equivalent Sky offering. NOW customer services not as good as Sky, but hopefully don't need to call them unless there is a problem.
Now 38Mb Fab fibre with Anytime calls for £25 pm
Some reports on this forum and on NOW forum where some new customers were issued with new telephone numbers. Reason unknown, but suspect it may be related to who originally owned/issued the existing telephone number when line was first installed.

I'm with BT too and they send me such emails when my current contract comes to an end. It's no big deal and if you just phone them, you can speak to someone who will get you a great package. We have to use BT because it's the best, we have found, as we have businesses here and need quality internet and landline connections. With BT we pay only £39.94 pcm and that's for landline with 500 free calling minutes, superfast internet and TV. We think that's great value. But you need to talk, that's the best way to get a bargain. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
