Afternoon everyone - received two letters (one pictured) on Xmas Eve (dated 12 December!), identical except for the reference numbers. From everything I have read, we simply ignore them - but a couple of unusual elements to the circumstances - they are for our son, who is now in Australia. (hence we have opened the mail addressed to him at our home address). He has a year's VISA for Australia, may be back to the UK, may not! They are for parking charge notices incurred while he was a student in Cardiff in 2023/24. Those demands have previously been ignored. Of note we live in Scotland, and this I suppose is still technically his "home address". Could a kind person perhaps confirm "ignore" is still the appropriate course of action given the circumstances outlined. Many thanks in advance...

A debt collector's letter.
The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collector's letters, but to summarise that post - ignore them.
Apart from that, your son lives abroad. Untouchable.
You have posted your son's full name for the whole world to see.4 -
So I have. Rookie error, thanks for pointing out, I've never used this type of forum before. I'll see if I can remove it though I suspect not. Thanks again for the reassurance.0

Dear Sirs,
This is to advise you to my relocation.
I have recently emigrated to Australia for work, and the UK address is no longer good for service in 2025 onwards.
The UK address must be erased, marked as out of date, and not used again. Relatives opened the two letters dated 12th December but no response will be forthcoming to any more letters sent there, which will be viewed as harassment of the UK family.
Any debt is denied and relates to a year when I was a student at Cardiff university. To contact the keeper, if you must persist, you have my email address and this postal address below must hereby be noted as my 'last known address' i.e. the only address good for service of letters and/or court papers for the foreseeable future:
AUSTRALIA ADDRESS IN FULL
I attach proof of residency in the form of a utility bill and/or wage slips from my employer in NAME OF AUSTRALIAN TOWN.
I am outside the jurisdiction of the UK courts so in conclusion, I refer you to the well-known answer provided in Arkell v Pressdram and suggest you wind your necks in.

Hi all,
I had a letter from Smart Parking in Dec 2022, which went to DRP and then to CST Law in Nov and Dec 2023.
As the CST Law one was a Letter before Claim, I wrote to them to appeal it almost 1 year ago. I heard nothing from them, so I thought they had accepted my response, and revoked the fine.
On the 3rd page below, it says if I appeal within the 30 days (which I did) , the business and I will have a further 30 days to discuss the debt. That never happened.
Yesterday, I got a letter from Debt Collection Baillifs Ltd (dcbl) which looks similar to some of the previous letters.
Is this just the dirty tactics employed by them?
Should i just ignore it?
Are they allowed to use as many of these companies as they want?
As I did reply to Letter before Claim within the 30 days should that have been the end of the matter?
Thank you for any advice.

That's a debt collector letter (14-day deadline is the usual giveaway). Ignore it, as explained fully in the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, fourth post. Smart Parking almost never litigate, and they would not be able to do so through DCB Limited. In the almost insanely unlikely event of receiving a real court claim, please start a new thread of your own and we'll give you specific, bespoke advice there. Don't expect we'll see you there! 👍Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
