We have, everything is back, just waiting on mortgage. It’s been sooooo stressful but we are kind of at peace with it now, nothing we can do. And now lock down our solicitor said it could be even longer.Fionaanne141 said:Is everyone else cracking on with arranging the surveyors and paying for searches while still awaiting outcome of mortgage offer?0 -
Yeah I have gone down that route..searches taking ages so best to crack on. Worst case you don’t get mortgage you lose £500 but if you get mortgage it could cost you 4 weeks after getting searches.Fionaanne141 said:Is everyone else cracking on with arranging the surveyors and paying for searches while still awaiting outcome of mortgage offer?1 -
I'm waiting for my valuation and formal offer before paying for survey, paid for searches and valuation so already 1500 out of pocket if it all falls through2

Thanks guys! So difficult to know what to do. I’m equally at peace with things taken longer but also don’t want to be so slow that we risk running over stamp duty deadline. I think i’ll speak with MB and get a flavour for wether or not she thinks my application is strong enough that I should carry on and order searches / book surveyor. House buying shouldn’t be a gamble but it really is isn’t it!0

We did the same we knew it was a gamble, hopefully it works out, we asked our broker on these times does he realistically think we can get a mortgage and he said yes you will get one, but who knows! It’s so unknown.Fionaanne141 said:Thanks guys! So difficult to know what to do. I’ve paid for my searches and figured it’s best to do them concurrently rather than waiting. I’m waiting to do my full survey as that is quite expensive!0

I think you will be done within a few weeks. I've found the intermediary to not be accurate for those who have everything in order and just waiting for the UW. I was told end of Nov, mine happened in 2 weeks from joining UW queue.Meh123 said:Mine was done within a few days of my application going in. The system is madness! Why not just be able to do mortgage applications (with no property selected) and be given a max mortgage offer of what the bank will lend subject to valuation, you then go ‘house shopping’ knowing you have your mortgage offer.Fionaanne141 said:Thanks guys! In my head that makes sense!! But so does cake for breakfast so I can’t be sure I’m not taking nonsense haha2 -
I really really hope so, but I think with our main income being SE it’s trapped us in the huge queue. I know they’re managing to get the straight forward ‘employed’ cases through pretty quick though! We were told there are 2 queue. Simple and complex, SE and any furlough etc are in the complex one and need additional checks etc.....however I desperately want to be completely wrong hahaknocknock1 said:I think you will be done within a few weeks.
