I’ve in the process for 12 weeks now. Offer approved 10th May. Still waiting for the letter. They are very slow. Try not to get anxious about it. Good luck.ac1111 said:My broker has told me that my documents have been checked and Santander are happy... so apparently this usually means has gone through underwriting. Haven’t been told yet if I’ve had a valuation, but my broker said they’re catching up with Santander today.Has anyone had this where there’s been a gap between underwriting being satisfied and next steps like a valuation? Not sure if I’m worrying for nothing!1 -
We have just gone back to the underwriters this morning says will update in 3 working days but it took a week last time we went to the underwriters. I think it will be same again

mine went back to underwriters last night apparently - website says they're only on cases from 22nd so gonna be way into next week until what will probably be more questions. I do wish I'd gone direct in a way so at least I could see what's happening and call myself etc - that just adds to the frustration for me! 0 -
Does anyone know how long searches will take?
The wait is killing me if I am totally honest. Would appreciate if someone could advise?0 -
When did you submit the application? They only booked valuation yesterday and it is for 9 June nearly two weeks later. My broker said the same thing about the documents having all been accepted but I am not sure whether it means the underwriting is all done. It is just too fast for them to finish the underwriting in less than a week by their standard.ac1111 said:My broker has told me that my documents have been checked and Santander are happy... so apparently this usually means has gone through underwriting. I’m sick of waiting. They asked us two questions and then asked for 3 months bank statements. Maybe if we have already been with the underwriters we may get to know sooner?NewToThis2021 said:

I submitted my application on the 30th April but it has been back to the beginning of underwriting 3 times which has delayed it, when they asked for more info. I’ve had no word on valuation yet, it’s a new build that isn’t complete yet- not sure if that makes a difference in how they do itPurlain said:

That’s so frustrating! It seems like such a bad way to do it, surely it would make more sense if the underwriters sat down and asked all the questions they want to know in one go it would save much more time then the going back and fourth which you’re having to go through and I guess is going to happen to us. I cried on the phone to the estate agent this morning because they are harassing me all the time and I can’t do anything it’s all in Santander’s hands! I agree yes so stressful! The two questions we got asked had literally nothing to do with the mortgage or the application. I hope you don’t get asked anything else too, fingers crossed for you! Keep me updated, hope it’s smooth sailing from here. I feel like I might be a similar case to you!stillwaiting5weekson said:

It’s so stressful isn’t it! So literally just after I got this update our mortgage broker called again and has said they asked a couple of really silly questions that seem to have nothing to do with it! So does that mean we are back in the queue now!? It seems such a weird way to do it! Hope you hear soon!stillwaiting5weekson said:

We had a DIP on 5th May
Applied for mortgage in full 6th May
Valuation on 14th May
and then from then onwards we heard nothing!
Today we found out that our case got passed to underwriters on the 22nd so mortgage broker says not long to go until an answer but when I looked on the Santander service times it says they are working on cases from 21st (3 days) so without sounding completely stupid does this mean that our case isn’t actually with the underwriters yet? and it will be when the service page says 22nd?Many thanks for any help 😁 we are both self employed so I understand this is a complicated process but we are holding up a chain of 5!!!!
It is with the Underwriters but they are not looking at it yet, they will be looking at it when the date changes to the 22nd, at the moment they are looking at cases submitted on the 21st.
Be prepared for abit of back and forth. My Husband is self employed and so far we have been sent to the underwriters 4 times. The 3 times previously they asked silly questions and every time they have asked questions its added at least a week onto the wait as you have to wait for them to check the paperwork then submit it over again.
Our last questions were answered on 12th May but we somehow got lost in the system so it only officially went back to the underwriters Monday, driving us crazy now!
Good Luck
You will have to wait for them to check the documents again and then pass them back to the underwriters again, every time weve been asked a question it takes about a week, especially with the bank holiday nearly here aswell.
Its very stressful, i can see why people say moving is one of the most stressful things, however i don't remember being this stressed last time! Ive heard they are so fussy with self employed, My Husband got asked the most random of questions. I literally have everything crossed we don't get asked anything else! If we do i think il start an application with someone else.

The estate agents must realise what its like at the moment, as you said its in Santander's hands and you cannot make it go any quicker! Hopefully the questions they asked will be the last of it.
So we've just had good news! We've just been told from our Mortgage Advisor that the underwriters have approved our mortgage and that it has now been sent to mortgage centre for the offer to be issued! He's said this will take a couple of days and he will check it once received and get back to me, however i feel like we can breath abit now! I got excited and replied saying i will celebrate now and he replied saying id waiting until offer is in but im sure will all be fine, which still leaves a little doubt in my mind but fingers crossed the bulk is done for us now!
I have my fingers crossed you wont have to wait too much longer, ours have been 5 weeks 1 day to this point.0
