Santander mortgage timeline

Just checked our online tracker. They’ve accepted the bank statements but haven’t even acknowledged the messages that we needed to reply with. I think they need to do this so we can go to the underwriters but they haven’t and no emailed received0

We had a DIP on 5th May
Applied for mortgage in full 6th May
Valuation on 14th May
and then from then onwards we heard nothing!
Today we found out that our case got passed to underwriters on the 22nd so mortgage broker says not long to go until an answer but when I looked on the Santander service times it says they are working on cases from 21st (3 days) so without sounding completely stupid does this mean that our case isn’t actually with the underwriters yet? and it will be when the service page says 22nd?Many thanks for any help 😁 we are both self employed so I understand this is a complicated process but we are holding up a chain of 5!!!!
It is with the Underwriters but they are not looking at it yet, they will be looking at it when the date changes to the 22nd, at the moment they are looking at cases submitted on the 21st.
Be prepared for abit of back and forth. My Husband is self employed and so far we have been sent to the underwriters 4 times. The 3 times previously they asked silly questions and every time they have asked questions its added at least a week onto the wait as you have to wait for them to check the paperwork then submit it over again.
Our last questions were answered on 12th May but we somehow got lost in the system so it only officially went back to the underwriters Monday, driving us crazy now!
Good Luck0 -

You will have to wait for them to check the documents again and then pass them back to the underwriters again, every time weve been asked a question it takes about a week, especially with the bank holiday nearly here aswell.
Its very stressful, i can see why people say moving is one of the most stressful things, however i don't remember being this stressed last time! Ive heard they are so fussy with self employed, My Husband got asked the most random of questions. I literally have everything crossed we don't get asked anything else! If we do i think il start an application with someone else.1 -

Kirkii27 said:I wouldn’t follow Santander service times. We went to the underwriters on the 17th may and was told 3 working days we would be updated it was a week. We sent more documents off on Monday that they requested which says it takes one working day to be accepted but they still haven’t accepted them. We applied on the 8th may. It’s taking forever0

Hi All
I have been reading this thread religiously since we submitted our application to Santander. Like most people here, my anxiety has gone off the roof, I can't believe how stressful this whole process has been.
Here is my timeline: 2x Applicants, (father &son) both permanently employed + 1 second job
AIP: 21/04/2021 (It was first declined because a recently paid off loan was still showing on credit file, proof of loan closure provided)
Full Application submitted: 23/04/2021 (Hard check done same day, confirmation of submission received via email same day from Santander)
Valuation completed: 30/04/2021
Case passed to Underwriters: 01/05/2021
Additional document requested: 04/05/2021 (latest April payslip for 2nd app perm & zero hr jobs, proof of permanent residence)
Back to UW: 07/05/2021
Another document requested: 10/05/2021 (this time, back page of perm residence card)
Back to UW: 12/05/2021
And MORE document requested: 18/05/2021 (details of any over 17 that will live in the property, more payslip, confirmation of continuous employment from zero hrs employer)
Back to UW: 21/05/2021
The back and forth screams of an unnecessary complicated process. Why they didn't review the app and requested for all additional information in one go is a mystery to me. Currently waiting to hear their verdict, MA said they were informed that Santander are working on a 7 working day timescale.

My broker has told me that my documents have been checked and Santander are happy... so apparently this usually means has gone through underwriting. Haven’t been told yet if I’ve had a valuation, but my broker said they’re catching up with Santander today.Has anyone had this where there’s been a gap between underwriting being satisfied and next steps like a valuation? Not sure if I’m worrying for nothing!0
