Congrats! Did you go to an independent broker or an online one out of interest? I’m due to hear back from my broker today toostillwaiting5weekson said:

That’s so frustrating! It seems like such a bad way to do it, surely it would make more sense if the underwriters sat down and asked all the questions they want to know in one go it would save much more time then the going back and fourth which you’re having to go through and I guess is going to happen to us. I cried on the phone to the estate agent this morning because they are harassing me all the time and I can’t do anything it’s all in Santander’s hands! I agree yes so stressful! The two questions we got asked had literally nothing to do with the mortgage or the application. I hope you don’t get asked anything else too, fingers crossed for you! Keep me updated, hope it’s smooth sailing from here. I feel like I might be a similar case to you!stillwaiting5weekson said:

It’s so stressful isn’t it! So literally just after I got this update our mortgage broker called again and has said they asked a couple of really silly questions that seem to have nothing to do with it! So does that mean we are back in the queue now!? It seems such a weird way to do it! Hope you hear soon!stillwaiting5weekson said:

We had a DIP on 5th May
Applied for mortgage in full 6th May
Valuation on 14th May
and then from then onwards we heard nothing!
Today we found out that our case got passed to underwriters on the 22nd so mortgage broker says not long to go until an answer but when I looked on the Santander service times it says they are working on cases from 21st (3 days) so without sounding completely stupid does this mean that our case isn’t actually with the underwriters yet? and it will be when the service page says 22nd?Many thanks for any help 😁 we are both self employed so I understand this is a complicated process but we are holding up a chain of 5!!!!
It is with the Underwriters but they are not looking at it yet, they will be looking at it when the date changes to the 22nd, at the moment they are looking at cases submitted on the 21st.
Be prepared for abit of back and forth. My Husband is self employed and so far we have been sent to the underwriters 4 times. The 3 times previously they asked silly questions and every time they have asked questions its added at least a week onto the wait as you have to wait for them to check the paperwork then submit it over again.
Our last questions were answered on 12th May but we somehow got lost in the system so it only officially went back to the underwriters Monday, driving us crazy now!
Good Luck
You will have to wait for them to check the documents again and then pass them back to the underwriters again, every time weve been asked a question it takes about a week, especially with the bank holiday nearly here aswell.
Its very stressful, i can see why people say moving is one of the most stressful things, however i don't remember being this stressed last time! Ive heard they are so fussy with self employed, My Husband got asked the most random of questions. I literally have everything crossed we don't get asked anything else! If we do i think il start an application with someone else.
The estate agents must realise what its like at the moment, as you said its in Santander's hands and you cannot make it go any quicker! Hopefully the questions they asked will be the last of it.
So we've just had good news! We've just been told from our Mortgage Advisor that the underwriters have approved our mortgage and that it has now been sent to mortgage centre for the offer to be issued! He's said this will take a couple of days and he will check it once received and get back to me, however i feel like we can breath abit now! I got excited and replied saying i will celebrate now and he replied saying id waiting until offer is in but im sure will all be fine, which still leaves a little doubt in my mind but fingers crossed the bulk is done for us now!
I have my fingers crossed you wont have to wait too much longer, ours have been 5 weeks 1 day to this point.0 -
Thank you! Independent broker. Good luck and hope you do hear today with good news.ac1111 said:

Congratulations @stillwaiting5weekson ☺️Hoping to hear something tomorrow - I’ve lost track of how many weeks were in now, maybe 6 or 7 🤷🏻♀️ I hope I don’t have to wait over a BH weekend to find out!1

Has anyone gone to the underwriters this week and had an approval or requested more docs?
We went back to underwriters today says in next 3 days we should get a response but last time it said that and it was 7 days and I don’t want to wait another week

I got contacted by my broker today asking for me to sign a mortgage guarantee scheme declaration form and send it back.
Not sure if that was Santander asking for an extra thing or he forgot when submitting original paperwork.
Hope this all goes through, can't stomach the thought of paying £400 to get refused.0 -
Had an update that my valuation has been instructed 2 days ago, no date confirmed yet. How long did it take for people to get their date confirmed?0

Aw that’s fab I’m so happy for you!!! Thats great news 😁 hope it’s nice and quick for you through the mortgage centre especially after how long youve been waiting! I’m sure it will be fine but I know what you mean until it’s all definitely signed and done with it’s still slightly scary but I’m sure it will go smoothly now.stillwaiting5weekson said:

Thank you 😁 You have given me more hope that ours might go through ok eventually haha I just obviously still have a lot of waiting to go!! We are 3 weeks in today but only went to underwriters this week, I’m not sure why it took so long to get to underwriters! I’m hoping it goes ok!
Thank you for listening to me ranting 😂

I had to sign that at the very beginning for my broker so maybe he forgot?James-may said:I got contacted by my broker today asking for me to sign a mortgage guarantee scheme declaration form and send it back.

Here comes another bank holiday weekend of hearing nothing! The stress is real!
We've still not heard anything back, sent the company bank statements across on weds, don't expect to hear anything until late next week, everything on our application has been so slow.Presumably we're back with the underwriters for further review and we know that means they'll just ask for more, more, more, over a number of weeks. This sucks.0 -
We went back to underwriters yesterday. I think if you’ve already been once in the que you should jump be able to go to the front as most of it will of been underwritten!Leanne1038 said:Here comes another bank holiday weekend of hearing nothing! The stress is real!
