  • Our broker provided further information on Monday (17th) and called Santander today for an update when the told her it would be at least another 2 working days before we get an update due to a backlog
Thanks for the update. My broker was chasing them yesterday too. Been with underwriters since last Friday - the service levels are clearly not ‘2 working days’

im geared up for another weekend of angst 😩
    It’s delightful isn’t it 🙈

  • Apparently we can’t chase until Monday to give the team chance to look at our case according to my MA

we don’t know why our case has been referred for checking, they think it is random

so another weekend of worry for us

Ours went to the underwriters first thing last Weds the 12th and we were told we'd hear from them in 7 working days, so I'm hoping by the end of today or tomorrow as I can't take much more 🙏
I'll update this thread so you'll have an idea if they mean what they say lol
Did you apply direct or though a broker?
I applied direct as we're porting our mortgage. I had a call from them a little while ago and my heart sank lol. But they said they're happy with hubby's income now, from what the accountant supplied, but the underwriter wanted to knock 2k off hubby's dividends due to projected earnings which would take our income multiple from just under 5 to just over, meaning a reduction of 7k in what they'd lend. We'd happily live with that but because when I applied in March I only had a contract, rather than a payslip (I started my new job in the same department on 1 March) they'd only counted my previous income and I earn 6k a year more now. So I've submitted my payslip and hopefully we'll get final approval really soon!
Feel like I can breathe a bit now 😂 although we'll still have the valuation to go.
Hopefully it means the timescales they're quoting are accurate for everyone too xx
we are waiting for valuation. do you know how long take for valuation and offer? timeline is yet to update on my record..not sure they will stick to this timeline though!

Hey everyone, just thought I'd share my timeline so far incase it's useful for anyone as I have found this thread extremely useful these last few weeks. I was an absolute nervous wreck as I'm a FTB and also buying alone - I went through a broker so didn't get any updates online.
6th May- Full application put into santander. All credit checks done same day.
    13th May- valuation done
16th May- broker update that all agreed Subject to valuation.
18th May- Mortgage offer received via email and sent out via post.
Fingers crossed for everyone waiting on decisions this week 🤞
  • MA says fully approved by underwriters and offer to follow! Been set up with an online tracker for enact. A huge relief. Hope everyone else hears soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

    Congrats!
Santander called me again today to say mine is back in the queue but it won't be a full underwrite so it should be early next week to get offer subject to valuation 🤞
But for the benefit of everyone else waiting, I pumped him for information and he confirmed that it's not just admin staff that are working on weekends (and Bank hols), the underwriters are too! Anyone that wants overtime can have it to try and clear the backlog. He said they're dealing with a lot of cases that aren't straightforward (like mine!). He also said the timelines on the intermediary page are accurate.
I used to dread weekends as it meant a few more days to wait each time so I hope it gives you some hope xx
