Santander are driving me crazy. Applied direct and they keep drip-feeding questions. I provide everything they’ve asked for, wait 1 working day for it to be reviewed, then they ask a bunch of totally unrelated questions. Answer these, 1 day later another unrelated question... Now waiting yet another day, hopefully my application will eventually make it to underwriters tomorrow...
Why can’t they just ask everything up-front?!

Hi
I applied direct online on 21/4/21. I got asked this question too. I used my salary and child benefit as income. I also wasn’t sure what to answer but I just explained my salary increased every April on an increment scale and one increase should offset the child benefit payment (I only have one child). So far I have been asked for payslip/ proof of child benefit. Also questions about covid and furlough (don’t apply to me), as well as queries regarding childcare costs and more details about a partial gifted deposit. The last message I had was on Saturday saying it had been approved by the underwriters but that I still needed to input the ID code (I did this yesterday) and await the valuation. I phoned Santander and they said the valuation took place on 24/4 (I wasn’t informed it was happening and it was very soon after I applied so assuming it was a desktop valuation).I am hoping (and praying lol) that all of the above means it’s just awaiting the offer being put together and that’s the next I will hear. How’s yours coming along?
That's fast progress!! It does sound like that's all they're waiting for, so fingers crossed for you.
I ended up saying pretty much the same thing about annual pay increases but also added a decrease in outgoings once the children become of 'working age' when the benefit would cease ... 😆 But that reason was accepted none the less! I've had the questions of furlough/Covid which also luckily didn't apply to us.
I had an email yesterday to say the valuation has been instructed (not sure if this is desktop or physical).
I've recieved a message this morning to say they now have all the documents they need and our application is with the underwriters and we will hear back within 3 working days. Which I'm slightly confused about as I presumed once the documents are uploaded and state 'ACCEPTED' this meant that the underwriters had already reviewed them?!

Hi alll, my survey is next week. Hoping it doesn't get down valued.
Are valuers valuing properties at whats being paid currently as the demand is high?
I know Santander use countrywide, anyone dealt with them before?0 -
Can I ask how long solicitors are taking? We sale agreed the property 2 weeks ago tomorrow (Friday), I contacted the solicitor on the Monday to get the ball rolling.I followed up today and he hasn’t heard anything from the vendor’s solicitor which has us a bit worried - especially as this is a private sale.Is this normal? The vendor still has the house up on the buy and sell sites she originally posted on also 😬0

But as the survey is next week, I'm pushing them to start now.
Need the draft contract TR1 and searches to happen.1 -

I am at the exact same stage and had the same questions, agree with what you said the "accepted" documents had given me false interpretation that it had already been approved. Now on my 3 working day wait and it is KILLING me!!
Argh
Good luck0 -
Another small update from us...we’ve now received our mortgage in the post from Santander so I’m hoping our solicitor will have received theirs or will receive theirs shortly. Our solicitor wrote to the sellers solicitors last week regarding the contract so waiting to hear on that front and our survey is booked for week commencing 10th May.0
