I think Neon Reef only supply electric & not gas so that possibly might be a factor in whether they go bust or not - possibly less likely to go bust (?) as they have no exposure to the massive spike in gas prices (just the less massive spike in the electricity price)
Hopefully this will work in their favour.

They did get a gas supply licence a little while ago (and they made changes to the portal to show references to gas supply as well) but, very fortuitously as it seems to have turned out, they didn't get round to offering gas supply.

I'm sure they will go bust.  I have said before, 3 accounts left them at price rise.  1 that was in debt was billed as normal, the 2 that were in credit were not billed.
  • I owe them around 120 quid final bill from 3 months ago that they're welcome to bill me for if that helps 🙂 I hope they're okay.

72% of Neon Reef's electricity supply is from gas powered generation ...

Yes, I am sure that is correct.
  • What? That they're okay or that I owe them? I switched to PFP who messed it up. Neon said they had nudged PFP for the final reading. They didn't ask me for it. Yesterday I used a spreadsheet to calculate what I owe them. My direct debit was too small with neon, hence the large amount owed.

That doesn't sound very green / renewable.
According to the Neon Reef website, all their power is today sourced from wind, solar and hydro.

From that webpage, Neon Reef's carbon emission intensity is almost twice the national average, 377g/kWh CO2 vs 198g/kWh.

That page refers to historical electricity supply. i.e. from 01/04/2019 – 31/03/2020.
    It says since
1 April 2020, all the electricity they supply is 100% renewable.
