Just had a "Your Monthly Statement" e-mail
  • Reading some of the posts about Utility Point (Neon Reef's parent company?) is quite worrying?

Been with them since October - billing is OK so far and my account is on target and tracking my consumption profile (ie. not either under or overpaying) so we'll see how it goes.

Although the directors are the same and the strategy seems the same (price way below cost to win customers) - they are likely managed by different people and the current issues of Utility Point won't directly impact Neon Reef.

There are likely to be issues long term if the directors take them down the same path as Utility Point, however next 12m you should be fine.

The clever thing to do is make sure that you've given them a pretty accurate estimate of your consumption so that you direct debit is neither too high nor too low, keep a close eye on your readings, check your bills regularly and make sure that your account doesn't get too far into either credit or debit.
If you do all that and they either go bust or you want to leave then you'll not owe them much and they wont owe you much either. Not like the bloke on another thread who reckons he's managed to ramp up a £900 credit with Utility Point and they wont give it back

They shouldn't be increasing Aqua One prices anytime soon as they have just released Marine which is 0.073p / kWh cheaper !

Both the kWh rate and daily charge would be higher for me.
Once again, the CEC doesn't do what it says on the tin: it doesn't show any Neon Reef results unless I change my details to say I'm with a different supplier.

Not cheaper than Aqua One my stepdaughter is on....about 1.7p/kWh more expensive.  I'm more thinking they're lining this one up to replace Aqua One in the very near future.  However, that said, it is still a pretty good rate if the worse should happen, especially as SC remains the same.

Interesting.  For me SC is the same and unit charge lower.  I would have expected it to be a decrease across the board, seems not !
