I also got an email to say my BG account balance had changed due to Neon Reef balance. I thought we would still have to pay Neon Reef / their administrators/liquidators any outstanding if we weren't in credit?
No - if you hadn't settled the "final statement" amount direct with NR in administration ,BG agreed that all remaining debts would be transferred over along with credits. Think that was announced ~ Feb. sometime ?

My account with BG is showing a healthy credit balance of ~ £450 - but of course it would - since they haven't yet billed for any use since the demise of NR on 22nd November !! The cancelled bill of 1st Feb has never been replaced.
I wonder how many customers are looking at this figure and feeling relatively happy, but are going to receive a mega shock when BG finally get round to raising a bill (December maybe ???) and want one off payments or a huge increase in DD !

It was the entry of a manual meter reading at the end of March which seemed to trigger a bill for me. It was wrong, but subsequently corrected when i challenged it.

Do need to follow up and ask them if I am now on monthly billing or quarterly. If not monthly will ask to switch to it, will match the monthly DD cycle then and I can monitor it more easily.

The only bill from EDF covered the period from the first reading I gave them to an estimated reading on 24th Dec. But that's better than BG !!
  • Spoke too soon. Just received a massive bill from BG. When will I ever learn?

Well, that's the rest of my day spoken for. Bill checking jankers.

It'll be "interesting" to see if they have handled the changeover period correctly. I'll wager they don't !!

I think they said mine is due April 25th, so if it happens I'll check the changeover period. I'm expecting at least 800 on my bill. Shame my bank caps the Cashback at a fiver a month per category! I should go back to monthly budget direct debit really.

Happy to report my cheque arrived today from BG for the credit balance of my Neon Reef account.  I was a former Neon Reef customer but they had not refunded me when I left.
