Now able to download this new BG Elec bill covering Dec-Mar. As far as I can see there are no changes to anything in all the “cancelled and replaced” bills:

    - the start date continues to be the same (date in Dec when switch completed from NR)
    - small debt amount outstanding at NR has not been added
    - no unit charges or standing charges in the period from 21 Nov (which I think was date BG became SOLR or NR went bust) up to my Dec start date.

I thought perhaps the replacement of the three monthly bills with this new quarterly bill might be as a result of them putting me on a quarterly billing cycle but it says next bill due in April.

Well, not in my case! I had some NR credit applied to my account several weeks ago (before any bills) via this "miscellaneous document" which doesn't appear to exist as a document as when I got on "Chat" they couldn't offer any explanation or detail about what it contained if anything! The credit was more than I expected - not that I said so at the time, I was just looking for an explanation. (I had been wondering if it was actually my NR account).

Several weeks back, having been reading this thread especially when BG changed the "information" for NR SoLR customers about the tariff going up on April 1st, I also used "Chat" to try and get on Zero Fixed. It never happened. At this point I was staring to think, I'm not putting up with all this nonsense - my on-line account didn't work properly, couldn't change phone numbers or add a meter reading etc. Got on "Chat" about that too. I was also not going to set up a DD as that looked as it could just generate further problems.
But with all the woes everyone has been suffering, and lots seemed different from others, I decided I would jump ship before the 1st April - it wouldn't change the financial situation, but at least I'd be rid of BG incompetence!

Eventually I got a bill based on the 3rd December meter reading they requested back then, and one I gave for the 8th March, the bill was correct for those 96 days, and it was taking the NR "credit" into account, so I paid it.

.Has ANYONE yet seen their NR debt added to their BG balance ??
Yep I have and it agrees with NR Final Statement- it appeared on my account today but not invoiced yet.
Also not been charged for 21/11 to 7/12 yet.
I presume you’ve checked the readings?
my BG supply started 22/12 but the reading used is 21/11
I think that means I’ve gained the standing charge.
Naturally...and no they haven't used 21 Nov reading for the first bill but a much higher figure so at the moment it suits me very nicely.
Nice, but I wouldn’t bank on it.
Bills are being reversed left right and center on BG at the moment.
Technically we can’t bank on it until 6 years have passed, but I’d certainly say wait 2 or 3 months or maybe 6 months until this phase of rebilling is over..............
I certainly won't bank on anything! The bill I paid, got reversed a few days later and a replacement covered the same date range, but the opening reading was from the 29th October!! before SoLR but from the last actual bill from NR! (So it looked as though the NR credit was somehow from my NR account, where would they otherwise have got the meter reading). I got on "Chat" (as other complaint options weren't "available" - long waits on phone, missing webpage complaint form....) that was a total waste of time, agent trying to tell me it was correct, I hadn't been billed for the standing charge, blah blah blah, I was banging my head against a wall. The agent seemed to "disappear" off the chat, I never got an email transcript BUT I had copied and pasted it into a text document on my computer just in case that sort of thing happened.

I'd already initiated the "jump ship" when they sent the "official email" giving 29 days notice about the increase on April 1st. Having done a few sums, I said I would pay the revised bill under protest as I didn't accept it, and in any event I would no doubt owe them a bit more between 8th March and start of my new supplier.

Since that complaint on "Chat", I've had no further cancelled bills (yet?!), but eventually my opening reading with my new supplier was passed to BG, so I've got a "final bill" from BG for 8th March to 29th March (start of new supplier) which I'm not paying yet, as the web complaint form reappeared and I've submitted a lengthy complaint with all the issues about contract change, wasted chat, incorrect bill etc etc. I also gave the meter reading for 21st November (which I'd already given NR), so awaiting the outcome. I may pay this final bill as I still think I'll be in a small amount of debit if they end up with all the correct billing.

(I'm beginning to think, as someone else suggested similar, my NR credit was the credit on 29th October plus 2 DD's taken after !).

Can now see my NR debit has been added to my April BG bill. Tallies with NR final bill so all looks ok and still no standing charge for 21 Nov - 7 Dec.

    Hi All,
can I please ask if there are any ex NR customers who have indeed had their ‘ guaranteed until 31st July ‘ prices extended to that date ?
I know that there was one contributor here who had said that they had been told they would have their contract honoured by BG but has anyone else ?
I am currently dealing with the Ombudsman and they are asking me if there are others in that situation.
    Many Thanks

  • I had an email from BG yesterday saying they are confirming my electricity tariff is a variable one and is due to end on 31st July 2022, it costs us five times as much , you are on a capped rate, would I like to sign up to a fixed tariff etc etc.

I've seen a copy of that email, it doesn't actually offer you any other tariffs, but does tell you that the next email will do that and you may want to consider a fixed tariff.
When you get that next one you will have the option to do nothing and stay on the capped variable rates that you are currently on, just with a change of tariff name to their standard variable tariff.

  •  The email did also say they had increased prices on 1st April to the Ofgem cap. Probably still better off doing nothing for the foreseeable future.

It is very much a guess right now what will happen to the cap in October, but unless you see a fixed deal that works out no more than around 20% above the current capped cost for your usage I'd be inclined to stick with the variable rate, but that really is just a guess.

There were 10s of thousands affected as the Ombudsman should well know! Everyone who was switched to BG via the SOLR process at the end of last year will have received the very misleading email ,which said tariff ends on and guaranteed until ........
They have already ruled on some cases as people have reported getting £100 offered. I went via BG Complaints and accepted £60.
I'm not aware of anyone actually getting the deal honoured HOWEVER doesn't mean it hasn't happened as BG are a disorganised shambles !!

    Hi All,
The email I received yesterday from BG was basically saying that I ( and presumably others ) was on a variable tariff and my prices had increased on April 1st though my tariff ran until July 31st !
As I already said, there are people who have been told that BG will honour their prices until 31st July.
In a previous post I said that I had spoken to a chap in the BG executive office who had been telling customers he had been dealing with that the NR customers he’d spoken to that their price guarantee would be honoured to July 31st.
It was only after taking my call - ( sorry ) - that he discovered from my experience having been given a deadlock letter by BG stating that they would not honour the price, that he on further investigation was not right in doing that.
Yes there are obviously thousands of customers like us but most have just accepted the price hike and not complained. I have and turned down £100 from BG because I know that worse case scenario the ombudsman will award that ( their limit unfortunately ) due to the clear issues in this situation.
If though it can be shown that some NR customers are being treated differently than others, then that creates an unfair situation based purely on who you spoke to and when, which is clearly not acceptable.
    Cheers
    Nobby.

There is nothing incorrect about that part of the email, the tariff itself will cease to exist July 31st, the price of the tariff can change without the tariff ending...
